Installing a WordPress theme is not as complicated as many people think it is. The thing that tends to confuse people is that there are two different methods you can use when trying to figure out how to install WordPress theme: 1) Direct upload via WordPress admin panel, and 2) Using an FTP Client. If you are lazy like me you will want to let WordPress do all the work for you. So now I will show you how to install WordPress theme through WordPress admin panel.
Installing WordPress theme via WP admin panel
I can remember the very first time I managed to figure out how to get a new WordPress Theme installed on my blog (without it blowing up). Starting from WordPress Version 2.7 onwards you can install WordPress themes straight from your admin section which makes the process much more easy.
1) First login to your WP admin panel and navigate to the Appearance>Themes tab.
2) Once you are under the ‘Themes’ section, will see ‘Manage Themes’ and ‘Install Themes’ at the top of the page. Click on the ‘Install Themes’ tab to make it the active tab.
3) I will assume that you have already downloaded the ColorLabs theme that you want to use. Select the Upload option under the ‘Install Themes’ tab.
4) Click ‘Choose File’ button and browse the theme file you downloaded (in a .zip format only) and select it. Then it is just a matter of clicking ‘Install Now’ and you are done.
ColorLabs First-Time Installation Service
If you’re still unsure about installing WordPress by yourself after reading the tutorial, you don’t have to be worry. We offer a prompt First-time Installation Service of any of ColorLabs premium WordPress themes which guarantees your theme is installed and setup properly.
To opt-in, log in to the Resolution Center after completion of transaction. Submit a ticket and provide your URL, WordPress and FTP account details. Your web site will be ready in 24 hours.
Please note, ticket submission to the Installation Service, as long with Technical Support and Customization Service Department, is restricted to members. They won’t be available to select unless you are logged in and have an active membership at ColorLabs.
If I were you, I prefer to let us do the dirty work and install the themes for me. However, I do encourage you to try installing WordPress by yourself. Basically, the steps above is the process we go through when someone orders an installation service. Don’t worry about screwing up. You can always submit a ticket to our Resolution Center and have ColorLabs support agents fix it.
