Installing Arthemia Theme

There are two ways to install Arthemia theme on your WordPress:

  1. Installing via WordPress Dashboard

    add-themes

    To install the theme via WordPress dashboard, you can go to WordPress Dashboard → Appearance → Themes.

    Once you get into that page, click the add new button at the top to install the ZIP theme file.

  2. Installing via FTP

    After you download the zip file from our member page, extract the file to your PC. Then, access your FTP using any FTP client (for example FileZilla), go to directory: wp-content → themes.

    Upload the extracted theme folder (arthemia theme folder) to that directory. After the upload process is complete, you can go to WordPress dashboard → Appearance → Themes to activate Arthemia theme you just upload.

Got an error during installation process? Try this following action:

  • Make sure you are using the latest version of WordPress
  • Make sure your hosting is running the latest version of PHP and MySQL. You can check WordPress minimum requirements here
  • If you can’t proceed the theme installation using the first step, please follow the second step to proceed
  • Make sure if your server folder is not protected. The common error message will say: Unable to create directory wp-content/sample-folder/. Is its parent directory writable by the server? (ask your hosting tech. guy if you got this error message)

Theme Options

General Settings

  1. Settings: To modify this options you can go to WordPress dashboard → Arthemia → Dashboard → General Settings
  2. Theme Style Sheet: At this option you can choose which style sheet you want to use. This style sheet will only change your site looks. The available style sheet you can use are: blue-accent.css, rainbow.css
  3. Main Layout: At this option you can choose the sidebar position. You can set the sidebar position to be displayed in the left/right
  4. Headline Category: At this option you can choose which post should be displayed at headline section based on its category
  5. Headline Post Sort Parameter: At this option you can choose how the posts should be sorted. You can choose to set the headline posts displayed by random order, by date (latest posts will be displayed)
  6. Featured Category: At this option you can choose which posts should be displayed at featured section based on its category
  7. Video Category: At this option you can choose which post should be displayed on video category based on its category
  8. Category Bars: At this options you can choose which categories should be displayed on category bars section (below the headline section)
  9. Remove ‘No Comment’ Text: You can activate this option if you wish to turn off the comment counter at the front page
  10. Global Excerpt Length: At this option you can declare how long is the excerpt should be displayed
  11. Enable Press Trens Tracking: This feature will help us to report if there is a bug detected at theme you are using, and also this feature will tell us how does our client use the theme. There will be not any of your personal information sent to us. This option is optional, but we recommend to enable this option
  12. Enable Post Date: If this option is active, then the post published date will be displayed
  13. Disable Responsive: There might be some of you who want to get the same display at PC and also gadget (smart phone, tab). With this feature you can disable the mobile view

Thumbnail Settings

  1. Settings: To set this options go to WordPress dashboard → Arthemia → Dashboard → Thumbnail Settings
  2. Enable/Disable Jquery Lightbox: If this option is active, then a lightbox Jquery effect will be active when you click on your latest post thumbnail at front page
  3. Featured Images: If this option is active, an image which is set as featured will be displayed as your post/page thumbnail
  4. Dynamic Resize: If this option is active, your image will dynamically resized, this feature require a PHP version minimum v 5.2 (higher is better)
  5. Hard Crop: If this option is active, your image will hard cropped, this feature is using timthumb to proceed
  6. Timthumb Image Resizer: If this option is inactive, all options on timthumb settings will be turned off
  7. Automatic Thumbnail: By default if option #2 is active, this option will take any image available on your post/page as your post/page thumbnail (first image uploaded on your post/page or featured image), but featured image is priority (if option #2 is active)
  8. Image on RSS Feed: If this option is active, you will have an image on your RSS feed

Front Page Settings

  1. Settings: To modify this options you can go to WordPress dashboard → Arthemia → Dashboard → Front Page Settings
  2. Show/Hide Headline Spoiler: If this option is not active, then you will hide the headline and featured section only at front page
  3. Headline Style: At this option you can choose what style of headline you want to display. You can choose to display a square thumbnail or wide thumbnail. This style also affect how many featured posts will be displayed. Also, this option only works on front page
  4. Featured Items: At this option you can choose how many posts should be displayed at featured section
  5. Auto Scroll Carousel: At this option you can choose whether the featured section should be scrolled automatically or not
  6. Carousel Pause Time: At this option you can choose how long is the pause time before the slider start to work
  7. Show/Hide Latest Post Thumbnail: If this option is active, then a double thumbnail will be dsiplayed at the latest post section, a big and small thumbnail. The small thumbnail is the post thumbnail, and the big one is the post gallery shortcut
  8. Latest Post Thumbnail: At this option you can choose the size of the latest post thumbnail. You can set the width and also the height (in pixel)
  9. Column Lists Thumbnail: At this option you can choose the size column list posts. You can set the height and also the width  of the thumbnail (in pixel)
  10. Show/Hide Excerpt: At this option you can choose to display or hide the excerpt on front pate
  11. Column Settings: At this option you can choose how many post column you want to display. You can choose to displaying 1 or 2 columns
  12. Show/Hide Category Bar: At this option you can set to hide/display the category bar. This option will work only on the front page
  13. Show/Hide Video & Random Posts: At this option you can choose to hide/display the video and random posts section. This option will work only on front page

Sidebar Settings

  1. Settings: To modify this options you can go to WordPress dashboard → Arthemia → Dashboard → Sidebar Settings
  2. Category Spoiler Thumbnail: This option will affect only on Category Spoiler Widget. At this option you can set the thumbnail width and height (in pixel)
  3. Show/Hide Excerpt: This option will affect only on Category Spoiler Widget. At this option you can choose to display the excerpt or not

Single Page Settings

  1. Settings: To modify this options you can go to WordPress dashboard → Arthemia → Dashboard → Single Page Settings
  2. Show/Hide Single Post Thumbnail: At this option you can set to show/hide the thumbnail on single post
  3. Single Page Thumbnail: At this option you can set the width and height of thumbnail that displayed on single post (in pixel)
  4. Show/Hide Category Bar: At this option you can choose whether you want to display/hide the category bar on single post page
  5. Show/Hide Headline Spoiler:  At this option you can choose to display/hide the headline spoiler that displayed on single post page
  6. Show/Hide Video & Random Posts Gallery: At this option you can choose to display/hide the video and random posts gallery at footer
  7. Show/Hide Tags Posts: At this option you can choose to show/hide the tags at the single post page

Archive and Search Page Settings

  1. Settings: To modify this options you can go to WordPress dashboard → Arthemia → Dashboard → Archive and Search Page Settings
  2. Archive and Search Page Thumbnail: At this option you can set the width and height of thumbnail that displayed on archive and search page
  3. Show/Hide Category Bar: At this option you can set to display/hide the category bar that displayed on archive and search page
  4. Show/Hide Headline Spoiler: At this option you can set to display/hide the headline spoiler that displayed on archive and search page
  5. Show/Hide Video and Random Posts Gallery: At this option you can set to display/hide the video and random posts gallery that displayed on archive and search page footer section

Post Duplication Prevention Settings

  1. Settings: To modify this options you can go to WordPress dashboard → Arthemia → Dashboard → Post Duplication Prevention
  2. Headline and Featured Post Exclusion: At this option you can set the post duplication prevention should be active or not. Post duplication prevention will hide any post(s) that displayed on headline and featured section
  3. Column List Posts Exclusion on Category Spoiler: At this option you can set the post exclusion feature should be active or not. This option will affect only at column list post. Any post(s) which displayed on category spoiler widget will not be displayed again at column list posts
  4. Random Category Exclusion: At this option you can set some category(ies) to be hidden on the front page

Logo & Icon Image Settings

  1. Settings: To modify this options you can go to WordPress dashboard → Arthemia → Dashboard → Logo & Icon Image Settings
  2. Custom Logo: At this option you can upload a custom logo that will be displayed header section. The best image size you can use is 260 x 60px
  3. Custom Favicon: At this option you can upload a custom image that will be used as your site favicon

Category Color Assignment

  1. Settings: To modify this options you can go to WordPress dashboard → Arthemia → Dashboard →Category Color Assignment
  2. Category Spoiler Title Color: This option will affect only Category Spoiler Widget. At this option you can set the color of the category title
  3. Category Bar Color: At this option you can modify a color of a category you choose at general settings
  4. Background Color: At this option you can choose the background color of category bar you have choose at option number #3
  5. Text Color: At this option you can choose the color of category description
  6. Link Hover Color: At this option you can choose the hover (when your mouse hover the link) color of the category description

Option number #2 until #6 will be automatically added into this option page depends on how much post category you have.

Analytics Settings

  1. Settings: To modify this option you can go to WordPress dashboard → Arthemia → Dashboard → Analytics ID, RSS Feed Settings
  2. GoSquared Token: At this option you can put your GoSquared token to activate the GoSquared analytics feature
  3. Google Analytics: You can also use Google Analytics by inserting your code here
  4. Feed Burner: If you want to have a RSS link active at your site, then you will need to put your FeedBurner url and also FeedBurner comments url here

Social Networking Settings

  1. Settings: To modify this options you can go to WordPress dashboard → Arthemia → Dashboard → Social Networking Settings
  2. Share Buttons: At single post, you can have a social share buttons displayed below the post . By this option you can choose which share buttons should be displayed. You can choose: Facebook like button, Twitter share button, Google +1 button, Pinterest and Linked In button

Header Ad Settings

  1. Settings: To modify this options you can go to WordPress dashboard → Arthemia → Dashboard → Header Ads Settings
  2. Adsense Code: At this field you can add any adsense code. Make sure if the ads size at least 720 x 90px
  3. Image location: Incase you don’t have any adsense code, then you can upload a custom image with size of 720 x 90px. After you put the image, you can put the URL that will redirect you when you click on the image

Note: if you already have an adsense code, then you upload an image, the image will be hidden

Single Page Ad Settings

  1. Settings: To modify this options you can go to WordPress dashboard → Arthemia → Dashboard → Single Page Ad Settings
  2. Adsense Code: At this field you can add any adsense code. Make sure if the ads size at least 468 x 60px
  3. Image location: Incase you don’t have any adsense code, then you can upload a custom image with size of 468 x 60px. After you put the image, you can put the URL that will redirect you when you click on the image

Footer Settings

  1. Settings: To set this options you can go to WordPress dashboard → Arthemia → Dashboard → Footer Settings
  2. Random Posts Gallery Thumbnail: At this option you can declare the width and height of thumbnail that displayed on the random post gallery thumbnail
  3. Random Posts Gallery Items: At this option you can set how many post(s) should be displayed at the random posts gallery
  4. Left Footer Credit: At this option you can type anything you want, the text will be displayed at left footer credit section. At this option, you can also type any HTML code you want
  5. Right Footer Credit: At this option you can type anything you want, the text will be displayed at right footer credit section. At this option, you can also type any HTML code you want

Contact Form Settings

  1. Settings: To set this options you can go to WordPress dashboard → Arthemia → Dashboard → Contact Form
  2. Destination E-mail Address: If you already create a page with page template contact, then at this option you have to put your e-mail address. Any inquiry made on your contact page template will be send to this e-mail address

Theme SEO Settings

This feature is added for them who just new to WordPress, this feature just a simple SEO settings. For the expert or the one who known WordPress well, usually they will search for another SEO plugins which are more powerful.

Page Title

Go to Arthemia → Dashboard → SEO Settings → Page Title. In this section, there are options to set how the title of every page in your website will be displayed. They are:

  1. Option: To set this option, you can go to WordPress dashboard → Arthemia → Dashboard → SEO tab
  2. Blog Title: Specify a text you want to display as a blog title
  3. Blog Description: Specify a sentence you want to display as a blog description
  4. Separator: Specify a character you would like to use as a separator in page title
  5. Custom Page Titles: Enable or disable this feature on your website. If you enable this option, there are additional options available. They are:
    • Homepage Title Layout: You can define the order of the elements on your homepage
    • Single Title Layout: You can define the order of the elements on the single title layout
    • Page Title Layout: You can define the order of the elements on the page title layout
    • Archive Title Layout: You can define the order of the elements on the archive title layout
    • Page Number: You can specify a text that precedes page number in page titles
    • Page Number Position: You can define the position you want to display the page number on your website

Description Meta

Go to Arthemia → Dashboard → SEO Settings → Description Meta.

In this section, there are options to set meta description of your website. They are:

  1. Homepage Description: There are 3 options available to choose. Each option describes the source where the home page meta description is populated
  2. Custom Homepage Description: Specify a decription of your homepage
  3. Single Page/Post Description: There are 3 options available you can choose the source where the single page/post meta description is populated
  4. Global Post/Page Description: Enable or disable custom meta description on your posts and pages

Keyword Meta

Go to Arthemia → Dashboard → SEO Settings → Keyword Meta.

In this section, there are options to set keyword meta of your website. They are:

  1. Homepage Keywords: There are 2 options available to choose. Each option describes the source where the homepage meta keywords is populated
  2. Custom Homepage Keywords: Specify a custom homepage keywords of your website. Separate each keyword using comma
  3. Single Page/Post Keywords: There are 3 options available you can choose the source where the single page/post meta keywords is populated
  4. Global Post/Page Keywords: Enable or disable custom meta keywords on your posts and pages

Indexing Options

Go to Arthemia → Dashboard → SEO Settings → Indexing options. Options available:

  1. Archive Pages to Index: Select which archive page to be indexed
  2. Add Follow Meta to Posts and Pages: Enable or disable a feature to add follow meta in all of your posts and pages

Advanced Options

Go to Arthemia → Dashboard → SEO Settings → Advanced options. There is option available to enable or disable 3rd party plugin data and also there is an option to hide ColorLabs SEO Settings box from the post and page editing screens.

Theme Customizer Importer

This feature talking about WordPress v 3.4.1 new feature, Customizer. This function will help you to import/export what you have customize on customizer. To import the customizr settings, you can go to the theme demo page and click on Customizr icon (brush icon).

Theme Update

To access the update page, you can go to:WordPress dashboard → Arthemia → Updates.

If there is an update available, update feature will tell you by a notification. You can update your framework and theme automatically but be careful because if your site already modified a lot with theme update function, all of your work will be gone. So please make a back-up files first before updating your theme.

Automatic Update

At Arthemia theme, we have a feature which will help you to get the latest updates from us. You can update your framework first before updating your theme, this framework will bring several bug fix (the kitchen codes, core files). Also there is an automatic theme update which will help you to update the theme easily. If you have a problem when do the update, please:

  • Make sure if your hosting provider support cURL feature
  • Make sure if folder directory named wp-content permission at least 755 or 777
  • Make sure if you are using the login information which is given when you purchase our products, also make sure if the information is valid. You can check your login information by login into our member site

Theme Manual Update

If you are facing a problem with the automatic update (failed, white screen, etc.), update both the theme and framework manually is recommended.

To do it, an access to FTP is needed. You can use a third party FTP agent such as FileZilla, etc.

Proceeding The Manual Update

To proceed the update, first you need to logging in into your FTP and go to directory: wp-content → themes. Rename the arthemia folder that available on that directory into any name you want, for example ‘old-arthemia’ (for a backup).

Then upload the Arthemia folder you extract earlier via FTP to directory: wp-content → themes. As right now the update process already done, but your theme is not yet 100% compatible with the newest WordPress version.

Upload the framework files you have (excluding the folder you made) to directory: wp-content → themes → arthemia → functions and replace all files available and done.

To complete the update, go to your WordPress dashboard → Arthemia and click the ‘save changes’ button.

Got an error during update process?

  • Make sure if your hosting provider have cURL feature enabled
  • Theme folder (wp-content → themes) CHMOD is 777 or 755
  • Make sure if your username/password is correct and active
  • Make sure if you have the latest version of framework
  • Make sure if your server folder is not protected
  • If you get a notification that your account cannot be used for update, renew your password at our member page. Make sure if you are not using to much special character

Miscellaneous

Adding Page

In order to create a new page, you can go to: WordPress dashboard → Pages → Add New.

  1. Page Title: At this field you can type a title for your page
  2. Shortcode: This theme bring a lot of shortcodes that will help you to create a wonderful post. To do it, you can simply click the Lemuel’s head and pick which shortcode you want to use
  3. Page Template: This theme is coming with several page templates that can be used to improve your website’s feature. For example you can create a blog page (that will displaying a list of all posts you have), a sitemap (that will indexing all posts, categories, tags, pages, everything you have on one single page), and many more.
    In order to use it, you can just need to pick which page template you want to use, type the page title and finally publish it
  4. SEO Settings: These options will let you to configure the posts’s SEO indexing.
    By default, all URL(s) you put inside the page will be ignored. By turning on Set Follow, the SEO feature will let the search engine to also indexing those URL(s).
    And by turning on Set NoIndex, you will preventing the search engine to indexing your page. Or simply you can say that you are hiding your page

Adding Post

In order to create a new post, you can go to: WordPress dashboard → Posts → Add New.

  1. Post Title: At this field you can type a title for your post
  2. Shortcode: This theme bring a lot of shortcodes that will help you to create a wonderful post. To do it, you can simply click the Lemuel’s head and pick which shortcode you want to use
  3. Post Format: By this option you can set a custom format for your post. Each format have a unique icon that showing what post format you are using
  4. Item To Show: There are 3 options available:
    • None: This is the default value if you are not going to use the other 2 options
    • Custom Post Image: Basically custom post image is the same as featured image which will not displayed on the single. The main benefit of this option is: you can put an external URL of image (as a thumbnail) and the image will not be stored on your hosting disk
    • Video Embed Code: To have a video thumbnail displayed, you have to put the video embed code to this text area. Your code should be displayed like this one:
      <iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/PVPt0LN2ssA" height="315" width="560" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0"></iframe>
      

      Make sure if you only use an embed code from popular video sharing like Youtube or Vimeo (to make sure if the video displayed well on mobile device)

  5. Audio URL: If at option number #3 you are choosing to use audio post format, then at this field you can add your audio URL with full format (http://www.google.com)
  6. SEO Settings: These options will let you to configure the posts’s SEO indexing.
    By default, all URL(s) you put inside the page will be ignored. By turning on Set Follow, the SEO feature will let the search engine to also indexing those URL(s).
    And by turning on Set NoIndex, you will preventing the search engine to indexing your page. Or simply you can say that you are hiding your page

Add Custom Menu

This theme support to have 1 custom menu, to set custom menu you can go to WordPress dashboard → Appearance → Menus. Then to set it, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Add/Modify Menu: You can choose to create a new menu group or edit an existing menu group
  2. Menu Group Name: You can rename or type a title for your custom menu
  3. Menu Items: You can choose what items should be available on your menu navigation. You can choose a page, post, category, tag or a custom URL

After you create a custom menu group(s), you can choose Manage Location to set where does your menu groups should be displayed. The options available is Main Menu.

Custom File Editor

This theme also provide a custom CSS editor, so if you want to modify the looks of your site (CSS customization), you can do it here. If you write your CSS modification here, you will not need to worry to lose your work if there is an update for theme. Your custom.css file will be stored at directory wp-content → uploads To access this page, you can go to WordPress dashboard → Arthemia → Custom File Editor.

Add Widgets

This theme have 7 available sidebars that you can use. To access the widgets option page, you can go to: WordPress dashboard → Appearance → Widgets.

To use it, you can drag and dropping the available widget item to the sidebar. This sidebar will be displayed on your main page, single post and page.

Import/Export Theme Settings

If you have to manage 2 or more sites that using the same theme, you can use this import/export settings feature. The output/input file should be a json file, and if you importing the settings from a site to another, your another site will have the same settings like your main site (only work perfectly if both site have the same category, tags and pages). To access this page, you can go to WordPress dashboard → Arthemia → Import/Export Settings

Dummy Content

If you need to have the same content and also display as our demo page, you can open the theme zip packages and you will find a folder named dummy-content. Inside the folder, there are XML files you can use. This file will bring all posts, pages, ads, thumbnail, etc. from our demo page. To use this file you can go to WordPress dashboard → Tools → Import. At this page you will be asked to install the importer plugin, after installing the plugin, choose import from WordPress and upload this file.
