Installing Arthemia
There are two ways to install Arthemia theme on your WordPress:
1. Installing via WordPress Dashboard
- Navigate to your WordPress Admin Menu and open Appearance → Themes section
- Switch to Install Themes tab
- Select Upload
- Browse for .zip file on your computer and install it
- Activate theme
2. Installing via FTP
- Open your FTP Client Application (example : FileZilla)
- Fill the login details (host, username, and password) then press Quickconnect
- Go to ‘wp-content’ folder
- Go to ‘themes’ folder
- Extract the arthemia.zip file into your local drive then search the current location and upload the arthemia folder
Got an error during installation process? Try the following:
- If you are upgrading the Arthemia theme via WordPress Admin menu open your ‘arthemia.zip’ and rename the ‘arthemia’ folder before uploading. Eg: arthemia2. Then press Enter
- Make sure you are using the latest version of WordPress
- Make sure your hosting is running the latest version of PHP and MySQL
Try to upload manually via FTP (FileZilla)
Theme Overview
Plugins Installation
Before you can fully use the powerful features of Arthemia theme you need to install several default plugins. Here are the instructions to set it up:
- Download and install WP-Post View from your member area or download from WordPress. After you finish downloading open your WordPress Dashboard and go to Plugins → Add new, click Upload, Browse your plugin, Install and Activate
- Download and install WP-Page Navi from your member area or download from WordPress. After you finish downloading open your WordPress Dashboard, go to Plugins → Add new, click Upload, Browse your plugin, Install and Activate
General Settings
Before you can start creating some content these are the first-time settings that you have to do:
- Go to Arthemia Options → General Settings
- You can choose two alternative theme colours, they are:
- Blue Accent → This color setting is the one who like white space
- Rainbow → This color setting will change your WordPress background to #505050 (light grey) and your headline section background to #333333 (dark grey)
- At front page you can set the sidebar orientation. It can be displayed at left side or right side
- You can set which category you want to attach at headline section (this section will only show 1 post from the selected category)
- After set the category for headline section you can set the sorting parameters. You can set it is sorted by date (will displayed the latest post) or show random post (refreshed every page refresh)
- You can set which category you want to attach at featured section (slider section)
- You can set which category you want to attach at video section at the footer (this section will only shows the latest video embed from every posts you have at selected category)
- Then you can set any category you want to set at category bar section. This category can shows category description which you can set from WordPress dashboard → posts → categories by adding category description
- If your post(s) still have no comment yet and you want to hide the words ‘no comment’ then you can hide it by tick the option ‘remove no comment text’
- You can also set global excerpt length. This option will affected every excerpt available at your site
- Presstrends tracking is our feature to know how our customer use our theme. We use this feature for the next upgrade of theme you use. But there will be no personal information we get so your privacy is safe.
It’s your choice to use it or not- If you have no time to add some post and don’t want your subscribers or visitors know it you can hide the post date so the visitors will not know when the post/page is published
Adding Category Description
Category description may made your site looking good, but if you can add an image to it? It will be more better isn’t it?
To make it you can simply going to WordPress dashboard → Posts → Categories → Description. Now you can insert any HTML tag, to make an image showing at category bar, you can insert <img src=”your image source”><br/> then your category description.
If you think your image is too small, you can set the height of it and the width will follow it since Arthemia using timthumb script as image renderer. This should be like:
Thumbnail Setting
Arthemia theme let you choose which image to be your thumbnail. You can choose external links, a featured image and also the first image of your post. Here is the instruction to set it up:
- Set which option that fit you at Arthemia Options → Thumbnail setting
- The new Arthemia Premium have a new feature to displaying the image (JQuery LightBox) but if you don’t want it you can disable it (default is enable)
- If you tick option of WordPress featured image so if your post have a featured image then your thumbnail is your featured image automatically
- If automatic thumbnail is ticked your post thumbnail will search available image at post you have, it maybe your featured image, post custom image or first image post, but if you already tick WordPress featured image your post thumbnail will be from featured image
Front Page
You can also modify how your front page look like:
- Go to Arthemia Options → Front Page
- At front page you can set if the headline and featured image will be displayed or not (this option will only affected your front page only)
- There are two options for Headline section:
- Square image: If you choose this option, headline thumbnail will be square and also featured section will only display 3 categories per scroll
- Wide image: If you choose this option, headline thumbnail will be wide and also featured section will display 5 categories per scroll
- You can set how many post will be displayed at featured section
- At featured section, you can also choose between automatic or manual scroll and how much delayed time per scroll (in mili seconds)
- At front page you can set the column section orientation, it can be 2 column list or 1 column list
- You can also set category bar section will be displayed or not at front page (this option will affected front page only)
- You can also set video and random post gallery will be displayed or not at front page (this option will affected front page only)
Sidebar
- Go to WordPress Dashboard → Appearance → Widgets to add sidebar widgets. There are several sidebars available for you: ‘Sidebar Top’, ‘Sidebar Left’, ‘Sidebar Right’, ‘Sidebar Bottom’, ‘Footer Left’, ‘Footer Center’, and ‘Footer Right’
- If you do not assign any widget to the sidebars, the theme default widget will be chosen
- This is the list of default widgets:
- Sidebar Top: no default
- Sidebar Left: Archive
- Sidebar Right: Blogroll
- Sidebar Bottom: no default
- Footer Left: recent posts
- Footer Middle: most commented
- Footer Right: most popular (do not forget to active WP Post View plugin)
- If you want to get rid of the default widgets, simply drag any widget available to the sidebars
Single Page
- Go to Arthemia theme panel → Single Page
- If you only want to display text at your site and don’t want to display any embed video(s) or image(s) you can tick of this option (this option will only disable any video(s) or image(s) at post or page only, but if you set an image or video inside it, the thumbnail will be displayed only at front page)
- At single page (both post and page) you can set category bar will be displayed or not
- At single page (both post and page) you can set headline section will be displayed or not (this option will hide both headline section and featured section)
- At single page (both post and page) you can set video and random post gallery section at footer will be displayed or not
Archive and Search Page
- There are options to Show/Hide Category Bar, Show/Hide Headline Spoiler (mini-headline) and Show/Hide Video and Random Post Gallery
- You can customize thumbnail sizes for Archive and Search Page. Notice that this setting will also be applied to Author Page
Post Duplication Prevention Setting
- Go to Arthemia theme panel → Post Duplication Prevention
- At headline and featured post exclusion you can prevent to not displayed any post(s) which category already attached to headline and featured section at latest post section
- If you add some category spoiler widget you can prevent if the post that displayed will not same which is displayed at front page. If you add some category spoiler widgets but not all of them is displayed, you can set this option off (set to not)
- You can also exclude any category from random post gallery
Logo and Icon Image
Before start posting, you better to set your website logo, favicon first. Here the instruction to set it up
Logo (exactly 165 x 90 pixels) file can be JPG, GIF, or PNG only. To set it, go to your WordPress dashboard → Arthemia Options → Logo and Icon Image. Select the source for your logo and icon image, this can be from an URL (external image), media library or from your computer by uploading.
For some cross browser compatibility issues, the icon file should be an *.ico file, to generate your icon
Category Color Assignment
You also can set the color of Category Bar via Arthemia Options. There are several options to make it perfect. Here is the instruction to set it up:
- Go to Arthemia Options → Category Color Assignment
- Select which category you want to set
- Background color setting is the color when your mouse hover on it (when idle/not hovered category bar color is white)
- Text Color setting will set the color of your text when idle/not hovered
- Link Hover Color setting will set the color of your text when your mouse is hover at it
- This is the web hex color code from the demo page; you can use this if you want to or use your own color. #2b9435, #e6ab07, #b7462c, #a5cc3a, #326abd
Advertisement
There are three advertisement sections on Arthemia theme, they are:
- Header Ad (728x90px)
- Sidebar Ad (300x250px)
- Single Post Ad (468x60px)
Advertisement images can be JPG, GIF or PNG. For the best layout. Banner sizes should be exactly 728×90 pixels (for Header Ad), 468×60 pixels (for Single Post Ad) and 300×250 pixels (for Sidebar Ad). To set the Ad image or Adsense code go to your WordPress Dashboard → Arthemia Options → Header Ad or Sidebar Ad or Single Post Ad
You can copy your Adsense code to the available text box or by uploading an image then set the direction page
Category Spoiler and Sidebar Settings
- You can select to Show/Hide the Category Spoiler from sidebar. You can customize the thumbnail size and there is also an option to Show/Hide Post Excerpt. For best layout please only use the recommended values (recommended values is written in the theme admin panel)
- All the widgets in the sidebar are configured at WordPress Dashboard → Appearance → Widgets. This section is explained in the previous chapter
Author Page Settings
- All settings from Archive and Search Page will be applied to Author Pages
- Author Pages will display a short biography of the author along with their blog posts. To edit short biography you need to go to WordPress Dashboard → Users and manage the author profile. Scroll down until you see Biographical Info field. Add the short bio there
- Gravatar will be displayed as author photo. Therefore please check that author has the same e-mail for Gravatar and for your blog
Page Template
Arthemia now support for several page templates which you can use to improve your bloggin experience. They are: Blog template, Contact template, Full Width template, Left Sidebar template and Sitemap template.
Because all of them is a template so to create it you shouldn’t type any page content on it. For further explanation please read this one:
- Go to WordPress dashboard → Pages → Add New Page
- Type the title of your page only and left the content blank
- You can choose several page templates available, after choosing it you can publish the page
- If you just want to publish an ordinary page you can set the template to ‘Default Template’

Custom Post Type
The new Arthemia version now support to displaying a custom post type like to displaying a quote, gallery, audio or chat post type. Here several things that you should know before start using this new feature:
- Format: Before you launch your post, make sure if you choose the format first like quote, gallery, audio, or chat, or if you just want to displaying a normal post, you can set it as standard
- Audio URL: This the text box at which you can put your audio url (first upload your audio into your gallery then put the url at this box). In order to activate this box, make sure if you are choosing audio as your post format

Note: To insert the gallery, when you are on the add new post page, click on Add Media → Create Gallery. And to displaying the text below the images, you can put your text at caption box when uploading the images.

Menu Configuration
Arthemia theme supports one slot WordPress Custom Menu. Here are the instruction to set it up:
- Navigate to Appearance → Menus section
- Click on “+” to create a new menu
- Press Save Menu button to register your newly created menu
- Add Pages, Categories or Custom Links to your menu
- Drag and drop items from your menu to put them in the order you want it to create parent-child menus. Don’t forget to save your modification
- Assign your menu to Theme Locations
Video Settings
You can upload a video to your post easily with Video Meta Box and display it at your website. Here the instruction to set it up:
- When creating/editing a post
- Go to the Video Meta Box section (below the content box)
- Copy the embed code from YouTube or Vimeo
- Paste it to the box
