BloggingNews

Installing BloggingNews

There are two ways to install BloggingNews theme on your WordPress:

1. Installing via WordPress Dashboard

  1. Navigate to your WordPress Admin Menu and open Appearance → Themes section
  2. Switch to Install Themes tab
  3. Select Upload
  4. Browse for .zip file on your computer and install it
  5. Activate theme

2. Installing via FTP

  1. Open your FTP Client Application (example : FileZilla)
  2. Fill the login details (host, username, and password), then press quick connect
  3. Go to ‘wp-content’ folder
  4. Go to ‘themes’ folder
  5. Extract the BloggingNews.zip file into your local drive then search the current location and upload the BloggingNews folder

Got an error during installation process? Try the following:

  • If you are upgrading the BloggingNews theme via WordPress Admin menu open your ‘BloggingNews.zip’ and rename the ‘BloggingNews’ folder before uploading. Eg: BloggingNews2. Then press Enter
  • Make sure you are using the latest version of WordPress
  • Make sure your hosting is running the latest version of PHP and MySQL
    Try to upload manually via FTP (FileZilla)

Theme Overview

General Settings

Before you can start creating some content these are the first-time settings that you have to do:

  1. Go to BloggingNews Options → General Settings
  2. The new BloggingNews now have 5 theme (default, blue, green, orange and red)
  3. You can show/hide date tagline below your website’s logo
  4. Set your website’s favicon. Upload a 16x16px .ico image. Click here to generate your favicon
  5. You can Enable/Disable twitter stream on your website header. If you enable this feature, there are two added options:
  6. Presstrends tracking is our feature to know how our customer use our theme, we use this feature for the next upgrade of theme you use. But there will be no personal information we get, so your privacy is safe.
    It’s your choice to use it or not
  • Twitter Username: Specify the twitter username you would like to show
  • Twitter Stream Limit: Set the number of twitter feed you would like to show

FrontPage Settings

You can also modify how your front page look like:

  1. Go to BloggingNews Options → FrontPage Settings
  2. You can choose to show post content or only its excerpt on the latest post section
  3. Enable/Disable 1st Row on Column area
  4. Enable/Disable 2nd Row on Column area
  5. Enable/Disable 3rd Row on Column area
  6. Enable/Disable 4th Row on Column area

Single Post Settings

  1. Go to BloggingNews Options → Single Post Settings
  2. You can choose to show image with embed code or image with image code
  3. You can Enable/Disable social share button. There are 4 social share buttons available for you:
  • Facebook Share Button
  • Facebook Like Button
  • Twitter Share Button
  • Google +1 Button
  1. Also you can specify the size of the image in your post

Page Template Settings

  1. Go to BloggingNews Options → Page Template Settings
  2. You can specify the number of images that you would like to display in the Gallery Page Template
  3. Also you can specify an email address that you use in the Contact Form Page Template

Thumbnail Settings

  1. Go to BloggingNews Options → Thumbnail Settings
  2. There is option to use WordPress Featured Image or not. If you prefer to use it, there are two additional options:
  • Dynamic Resize: If this options is enabled, the thumbnail in each post will be resized dynamically using WordPress native function
  • Hard Crop: The original image will be cropped match the target aspect ratio
  1. There is an option to enable TimThumb.php script dynamically resizes images added through post custom field
  2. There is an option generate post thumbnail automatically from the first image in post
  3. There is an option to enable post thumbnail in RSS feed article
  4. You can specify the size of thumbnail image on your website

Analytics ID, RSS Feed

Go to BloggingNews Options → Analytics ID, RSS Feed. In this section, you can:

  1. Put your google analytics code in your website
  2. Specify your feedburner URL
  3. Specify the feedburner comments URL

Footer Settings

  1. Go to BloggingNews Options → Footer Settings
  2. You can Enable/Disable logo on the footer section. If you enable this feature, upload an image for your footer logo. The image file can be JPG, GIF or PNG only
  3. You can Enable/Disable footer menu on footer section
  4. Also you can Enable/Disable Custom Credit on footer section

Left Header Ad

  1. Go to BloggingNews Options → Left Header Ad
  2. You can Enable/Disable left header ad on your website
  3. You can specify your adsense code or other network code
  4. To replace default ad image select the image source. This can be from an URL (external image), media library or from your computer by uploading. File can be JPG, GIF, or PNG only

Right Header Ad

  1. Go to BloggingNews Options → Right Header Ad
  2. You can Enable/Disable right header ad on your website
  3. You can specify your adsense code or other network code
  4. To replace default ad image, select the image source, this can be from an URL (external image), media library or from your computer by uploading. File can be JPG, GIF, or PNG only

Sidebar

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard → Appearance → Widgets
  2. If you want to add widgets in your sidebar, simply drag any available widget to the sidebar column on the right. There are several sidebars available for you:
  • Right Sidebar
  • Footer 1
  • Footer 2
  • Footer 3
  1. BloggingNews provide 8 additional widget that you can use in your sidebar. These are:
  • ColorLabs – Ad 125
  • ColorLabs – Ad 300
  • ColorLabs – Blog Author Info
  • ColorLabs – Embed/Video
  • ColorLabs – Flickr
  • ColorLabs – Search
  • ColorLabs – Tabs
  • ColorLabs – Twitter Stream

Homepage Row

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard → Appearance → Widgets
  2. In this section you can add the specific content that you want to show. It is similar to sidebar but it is located on the main section. There are 4 different rows in this section. In every row, you can add widgets by simply dragging any available widget to the specific row. BloggingNews provide 3 default widget that you can use in each row. These are:
  • ColorLabs – 2 Column Content
  • ColorLabs – 3 Column Content
  • ColorLabs – 4 Column Content
