Installing Directory Theme

There are two ways to install Directory theme on your WordPress:

  1. Installing via WordPress Dashboard

    To install the theme via WordPress dashboard, you can go to WordPress Dashboard → Appearance → Themes.

    Once you get into that page, click the add new button at the top to install the ZIP theme file.

  2. Installing via FTP

    After you download the zip file from our member page, extract the file to your PC. Then, access your FTP using any FTP client (for example FileZilla), go to directory: wp-content → themes.

    Upload the extracted theme folder (directory theme folder) to that directory. After the upload process is complete, you can go to WordPress dashboard → Appearance → Themes to activate directory theme you just upload.

Got an error during installation process? Try this following action:

  • Make sure you are using the latest version of WordPress
  • Make sure your hosting is running the latest version of PHP and MySQL. You can check WordPress minimum requirements here
  • If you can’t proceed the theme installation using the first step, please follow the second step to proceed
  • Make sure if your server folder is not protected. The common error message will say: Unable to create directory wp-content/sample-folder/. Is its parent directory writable by the server? (ask your hosting tech. guy if you got this error message)

Theme Overview

Theme Options

To access the dashboard, you can go to WordPress dashboard → Directory → Dashboard. You can drag and drop the menu navigation icon from left to right area to displaying an options behind it.

General Settings

  1. Options: To displaying the options, you can drag the General Settings icon from left to right section
  2. Use Blog Title/ Custom Logo: By this option, you can choose whether to displaying your site title or uploading a custom logo.
    If you prefer to displaying your site title, you can change it’s name by going to: WordPress dashboard → Settings → General Settings
  3. Custom Logo: If you choose to use a custom logo, then at this field you can upload your own logo, the best resolution is 260 x 60px
  4. Custom Favicon: By this option you can upload your own favicon
  5. Post Submit Status: At this option you can set the status of newly added posts. It can be set to published (the posts which is submitted is automatically published) or moderate (the administrator have to publish the posts manually, it means that you can review the submitted ad first before publishing it)
  6. Disable Responsive: By this option you can choose whether to use a responsive design or not (by responsive design, your site will automatically resized depends on screen size). It is recommended to set this option off (unchecked)

Front Page Settings Settings

  1. Options: To displaying the options, you can drag the Front Page Settings icon from left to right section
  2. Home Blog Description: At this option you can type a tagline for your theme, this tagline will be displayed at front page with big font size (you cannot type HTML code on this field)
  3. Featured Category: At this option you can choose which ads category should be displayed at featured section (slider section)
  4. Latest Submit: At this option you can type any number that will limit how many latest submitted ads should be displayed at front page

Ads Settings

  1. Options: To displaying the options, you can drag the Ads Settings icon from left to right section
  2. Allow Ad Editing: If this option is active, the owner of the ads could modify/edit their published ads
  3. Allow Ad Relisting: Activate this option if you want allowing your customer to re-submit their expired ads
  4. Prune Ads: Activate this option if you want to immediately remove all expired ads on your site. The number of removed expired ads is depends on your server crone job schedule.
    If this option is turned off, none of the expired ads will be removed and each of them will have a banner that telling people if this ads already expired
  5. Run Ads Expired Check Now: Activate this option immediately if you can’t wait option number #4 to work.
    This option is a one way option, which means once this option already done with its work, it will automatically turned off
  6. Show Ads View Counter: If this option is active, at the single ads page, you will have a view counter displayed
  7. Ad Listing Period: At this field you can type a number that shows how many days does a single ad will be available on your site
  8. New Ad Status: At this option you can set the status of newly added ads. It can be set to published (the ads which is submitted is automatically published) or moderate (the administrator have to publish the ads manually, it means that you can review the ads first before publish it)
  9. Allow Parent Category Posting: At this option you can set whether user can publish their ads under main category or they should post it under the sub category
  10. Allow Ad Images:  At this option you can allow the user to add an image(s) on their ads or not
  11. Max Images Per Ad: If you activate option number #8, then at this option you can choose how many images that people can upload into their ads
  12. Max Size Per Image: If you activate option number #8, then at this option you can choose the maximum size of image that people can upload
  13. Allow HTML: Activate this option if you want to let people to add some HTML tags into their submitted ads.

If you find an error that causing people can’t type any description for their products, make sure if option number #13 is turned off.

Global Path Settings

  1. Options: To displaying the options, you can drag the Global Path Settings icon from left to right section
  2. Dashboard Path: A this field you have to put the the slug name of your page which already have dashboard page template
  3. User Profile Path: At this field you have to put the slug name of your page which already have user profile page template
  4. Edit Ad Path: At this field you have to put the slug name of your page which already have edit ad page template
  5. Add New Path: At this field you have to put the slug name of your page which already have add new page template
  6. Add New Confirm Path: At this field you have to put the slug name of your page which already have add new confirm page template

Before you can use these options, make sure if you already configure your permalinks well. To do it, you can go to: WordPress dashboard → Settings → Permalinks, make sure if the option is configured to post name.

Search Settings

  1. Options: To displaying the options, you can drag the Search Settings icon from left to right section
  2. Exclude Pages: If this option is active, the search results will hide all pages, so the search results will displaying only blog posts and ads
  3. Exclude Blog Posts: If this option is active, the search results will hide all blog posts, so the search results will displaying only pages and ads

Pricing Configuration

  1. Options: To displaying the options, you can drag the Pricing Settings icon from left to right section
  2. Display Zero On Empty Price: If this option is active, when the people who post an ads on your site forget to fill the price field, then at their ads at the price section will be displayed 0 as the price
  3. Currency Symbol: At this field you can type your desired currency symbol, this currency symbol will be displayed at all ads you have
  4. Symbol Position: At this option you can choose at which position does the currency symbol should be displayed. You can choose the symbol should be displayed at the left or right of the price value
  5. Collect Payments In: At this option you can choose what currency you want to get as the payment. This option will only displaying all currency that available at PayPal currency (You have to make sure if this option have the same value as option #3)
  6. Charge For Listing Ads: If this option is active, any people who want to post their ads into your site will be charged, the fee is declared at option #8
  7. Featured Ad Price: At this option you can put a value of how much does people have to pay to get their ads be featured (just type the value only – without the currency)
  8. Price Model: If you activate option #6, then at this option you can choose about how you want to charge the people. You can choose only charge for featured ads (if you choose this option, then the regular ads is free even if you activate option #6), Price Per Category (If you choose this option, then at add new ads category page you have to declare how much does your category worthed), Fixed Price Per Ad (if you choose this option, then you will need to create at least one ad pack) and Percent Of Sellers Ad Price (if you choose this option, then at option #9 you have to declare how many percent you want to charge them)
  9. % Of Sellers Ad Price: If at option #8 you choose percent of sellers ad price, then at this option you have to put how many percent you want to charge them
  10. Enable Coupons: Activate this option if you want to activate the discount coupon feature on. The tutorial to use this option will be explained below

If you set the option number #8 to be ‘Price Per Category’, then you need to configure the price by going to: WordPress dashboard → Ads → Ad Category.

You can create a new ad’s category or edit the existing one, above the publish button you should have a field named ‘price’. Type the price of the category there without adding any money currency.

Category Options

  1. Options: To displaying the options, you can drag the Category Settings icon from left to right section
  2. Show Parent Ad Count: If this option is active, then at front page the parent ads category will have a counter of how many sub category does it have
  3. Show Child Ad Count: If this option is active, then at front page the sub ads category will have a counter of how many ads does it have
  4. Category Depth: At this option you can choose how many sub ads category you want to display per ads parent category
  5. Hide Empty Child Category: If this option is active, then all sub ads category that don’t have any ads on it yet will be hidden
  6. Hide No Categories: By this option, you can hide the label that says ‘no categories’ at the single ads
  7. Category Order: At this option you can choose how does your ads category will be sorted. You can choose whether to sort it by the id of category or by the slug name of the category
  8. Category Depth (Top Categories): At this option you can choose how many sub category you want to display at the top categories section (at the left of the slider)

Taxonomy URLs

  1. Options: To displaying the options, you can drag the Taxonomy URLs Settings icon from left to right section
  2. Ads Listing Base URL: At this field you have to put a custom base url for your ads, make sure if you are not using a space, a dot, a coma or any punctuation marks. If you need to put a space, then use a dash instead (for example, if you put test-ads then you will have these url when you open an ads: http://www.your-site.com/test-ads/your-ads-name)
  3. Ad Category Base URL: At this field you have to put a custom base url for your ads category, make sure if you are not using a space, a dot, a come or any punctuation marks. If you need to put a space, then use a dash instead (for example, if you put test-category then you will have these url when you browse a category: http://www.your-site.com/test-category/your-ads-category-name)
  4. Ad Tag Base URL: At this field you have to put a custom base url for your ads tag, make sure if you are not using a space, a dot, a come or any punctuation marks. If you need to put a space, then use a dash instead (for example, if you put test-tag then you will have these url when you browse a tag: http://www.your-site.com/test-tag/your-ads-tag-name)
  5. Ad Location Base URL: At this field you have to put a custom base url for your ads location category, make sure if you are not using a space, a dot, a coma or any punctuation makrs. If you need to put a space, then use a dash instead (for example, if you put test-location then you will have these url when you browse a location category: http://www.your-site.com/test-location/your-ads-location-category-name

Make sure before you configure this option, you already configure the permalinks configuration by going to: WordPress dashboard → Settings → Permalinks. Configure the option to ‘post name’.

Membership Settings

  1. Options: To displaying the options, you can drag the Membership Settings icon from left to right section
  2. Membership Packs: If this option is active, then membership feature will be active
  3. Membership Buy Page: If you activate option #2, then at this option  you have to choose a page which already have membership purchase page template
  4. Membership Authentication Page: If you activate option #2, then at this option you have to choose a page which already have membership confirm page template

Labels And Messages

  1. Options: To displaying the options, you can drag the Labels & Messages Settings icon from left to right section
  2. Archive Labels (Listings): At this option you can type a custom header name for ads listing archive page
  3. Archive Labels (Default): At this option you can type a custom header name for archive page
  4. Home Page Message: At this field you can type a custom message that will be displayed at your sidebar on front page. At this field HTML tag is allowed
  5. New Ads Message: At this field you can type a custom message that will be displayed at the add new ads page. At this field HTML tag is allowed
  6. Membership Purchase Message: At this field you can type a custom message that will be displayed at purchase membership page. At this field HTML tag is allowed
  7. Terms Of Use: At this field you can type a custom terms of your site. This message will be displayed at step #3 of add new ads page. At this field HTML tag is allowed

Social Networking

  1. Options: To displaying the options, you can drag the Social Networking Settings icon from left to right section
  2. Social URL: At this option, you can put your social networking urls at the available fields then an icons of the chosen social networking will be displayed
  3. Enable/disable Social Share Buttons: At this option you can choose which social share buttons should be displayed at single post page

Thumbnail Settings

  1. Options: To displaying the options, you can drag the Thumbnail Settings icon from left to right section
  2. Featured Images: If this option is active, an image which is set as featured will be displayed as your post/page thumbnail
  3. Dynamic Resize: If this option is active, your image will dynamically resized, this feature require a PHP version minimum v 5.2 (higher is better)
  4. Hard Crop: If this option is active, your image will hard cropped, this feature is using timthumb to proceed
  5. Timthumb Image Resizer: If this option is inactive, all options on timthumb settings will be turned off
  6. Automatic Thumbnail: By default if option #2 is active, this option will take any image available on your post/page as your post/page thumbnail (first image uploaded on your post/page or featured image), but featured image is priority (if option #2 is active)
  7. Image on RSS Feed: If this option is active, you will have an image on your RSS feed

Analytics Code and RSS

  1. Options: To displaying the options, you can drag the Analytics Code and RSS Settings icon from left to right section
  2. GoSquared Token: You can integrate this theme with GoSquared by put your token at the text box
  3. Google Analytics: This theme also can be integrate with Google Analytics by put the analytics code at the text area
  4. FeedBurner URL: To enable the FeedBurner feature, you can put the url of your feed at the text box

E-mail Settings

  1. Options: To displaying the options, you can drag the E-mail Settings icon from left to right section
  2. New Ad E-mail: Activate this option to give you an e-mail notification if any ads submitted to your site
  3. Prune Ads E-mail: Activate this option to give you an-email notification if an ads already/almost expired
  4. Ad Approved E-mail: Activate this option to give the ads owner an e-mail notification if his/her ads already approved
  5. Ad Expired E-mail: Activate this option to give the ads owner an e-mail notification if his/her ads already expired (no longer published)
  6. Admin New User E-mail: Activate this option to give you an e-mail notification if someone register to your site
  7. Send Membership Subscription Reminder E-mail: Activate this option if you want to send a reminder e-mail to all customers you have with a membership package that almost expired
  8. Membership Activated E-mail: Activate this option if you want to send a notification to your customer once his/her subscription package already active

New User E-mail Settings

  1. Options: To displaying the options, you can drag the New User E-mail Settings icon from left to right section
  2. Enable Custom E-mail: Activate this option to send a custom e-mail to the user rather than the default e-mail by WordPress
  3. From Name: At this option you can type a custom sender name of the e-mail
  4. From E-mail: At this option you can type a custom e-mail sender (make sure if you are not put a scam e-mail address. A not valid e-mail address will stay on spam folder)
  5. E-mail Subject: At this option you can type a custom e-mail subject, for example: thank you for registering
  6. Allow HTML in Body: Activate this option to allow HTML code run in the e-mail body
  7. E-mail Body: At this box you can type the message you want to send to your user. Before you use this option, make sure if you read the variables option that can be used. Also, you can use HTML code if you activate option number #6

Google Maps Settings

  1. Options: To displaying the options, you can drag the Google Maps Settings icon from left to right section
  2. Google Maps Language: At this field you can type a specific language code to translate your Google Maps. The example of language code is: If i want to make my maps displaying Indonesian language, then i have to type Indonesia country initial: ID
  3. Google Maps Region: At this field you can type the country intial code. With this settings you can specify the map search, for example: there are 2 toledo region in the world, in Spain and US. If you type ES for Spain initial code and people search for Toledo, then the one which will be displayed is Toledo in Spain
  4. Distance Unit: At this field you can type a distance unit you can use for the map

Footer Settings

  1. Options: To displaying the options, you can drag the Footer Settings icon from left to right section
  2. Enable Custom Credit: If this option is active, a text area will be displayed. At this text area, you can put a custom credit. Also you can use any HTML code on it

Contact Form

  2. Destination Address: You can put your e-mail address at the text field, all email inquiry made at contact page template will be send to this e-mail address

Theme Customizer Importer

This feature talking about WordPress v 3.4.1 new feature, MaxCustomizer. But this is not a customizer, it is a function that will help you to import/export what you have customize on customizer. To check the MaxCustomizer settings, you can go to the theme demo page and click on Customizr icon (brush icon) to displaying the MaxCustomizer settings.

After you make some modification, you can export the MaxCustomizer from our demo page and import it to your theme dashboard at Directory: WordPress dashboard → Directory → Customizer Importer

Theme Update

To access the update page, you can go to:WordPress dashboard → Directory → Updates.

If there is an update available, update feature will tell you by a notification. You can update your framework and theme automatically but be careful because if your site already modified a lot with theme update function, all of your work will be gone. So please make a back-up files first before updating your theme.

Automatic Update

At Directory theme, we have a feature which will help you to get the latest updates from us. You can update your framework first before updating your theme, this framework will bring several bug fix (the kitchen codes, core files). Also there is an automatic theme update which will help you to update the theme easily. If you have a problem when do the update, please:

  • Make sure if your hosting provider support cURL feature
  • Make sure if folder directory named wp-content permission at least 755
  • Make sure if you are using the login information which is given when you purchase our products, also make sure if the information is valid. You can check your login information by login into our member site

Theme Manual Update

If you are facing a problem with the automatic update (failed, white screen, etc.), update both the theme and framework manually is recommended.

To do it, an access to FTP is needed. You can use a third party FTP agent such as FileZilla, etc.

Proceeding The Manual Update

To proceed the update, first you need to logging in into your FTP and go to directory: wp-content → themes. Rename the Directory folder that available on that directory into any name you want, for example ‘old-Directory’ (for a backup).

Then upload the Directory folder you extract earlier via FTP to directory: wp-content → themes. As right now the update process already done.

Got an error during update process?

  • Make sure if your hosting provider have cURL feature enabled
  • Theme folder (wp-content → themes) CHMOD is 755
  • Make sure if your username/password is correct and active
  • Make sure if you have the latest version of framework
  • Make sure if your server folder is not protected
  • If you get a notification that your account cannot be used for update, renew your password at our member page. Make sure if you are not using to much special character.

Adding Page

  1. Page Template: This theme come with several page templates that you can use to improve your site performance such as blog page template to displaying all posts you have
  2. SEO: You can set the SEO options here individually. You can set SEO_follow (allow search engine to crawl on your post) or SEO_noindex (prevent search engine to crawl on your post). You can also add a custom page title which will be displayed at the search results of search engine

Adding Post

  1. Shortcodes: To use a shortcode, you can click on Lemuel’s head icon to check the available options
  2. Item To Show:
    • Custom Post Image: Basically custom post image is same as featured image which will not displayed on post content, just as the post thumbnail
    • Video Embed Code: To have a video thumbnail displayed, you have to put the video embed code to this text area. Your code should be displayed like this one:

      Make sure if you only use an embed code from popular video sharing like Youtube or Vimeo

  3. SEO: You can set the SEO options here individually. You can set SEO_follow (allow search engine to crawl on your post) or SEO_noindex (prevent search engine to crawl on your post)

Manage Menu Location

By using this theme, you can use up to two menu location that available on the top section (main menu) and footer section (footer menu).

To manage the menu navigation, you can go to: WordPress dashboard → Appearance → Menus.

Permalink Configuration

Before you can start using this theme, make sure if you already configure the permalinks option. You can manage this option by going to: WordPress dashboard → Settings → Permalinks.

Make sure if you set the option to post name.

Background Settings

By using this theme you can also manage the background of your site by going to: WordPress dashboard → Appearance → Background.

Once you click this option, you will be moved to a customizr page. Click on the background option to manage it.

Header Image Settings

This theme also have an option that allowing you to change the header background that available on the top section (behind your site logo).

To modify it, you can go to: WordPress dashboard → Appearance → Header. Once you click this option, you will be moved to a customizr page. Click on the header option to manage it.

Ads Location

At the submit ads page, people are able to choose the location of where does their ads located. To enable the location selection, the administrator have to create the location first (the people who post an ads cannot create a new location). To create a location, you can go to WordPress dashboard → Ads → Ads Location

Ad Pack

At this theme, you can also create a value pack in order to submit an ads into your site, there are 2 types of pack you can create. First is member pack and regular pack. To create the pack, you can go to WordPress dashboard → Directory → Packages.

This package will be displayed at the submit ads page. Make sure if you are set if people have to pay for the ads at pricing settings

  1. Name: At this field, you can add the name of your pack
  2. Description: At this field, you can type a description of you package, like what people will get, how long does the package is available to be used, etc
  3. Price Per Listing: At this field you can type how much does people who already purchase your package have to pay in order to post their ads
  4. Ad Duration: At this field you can type how long does this package will be available to be used. The value on this field is in day, if you type 30, then it means 30 days
  5. Package Status: At this option you can set the status of the package, if you set it as inactive then your package will be hidden and cannot be choosen by the people

Coupon

  1. Code: At this option, you can put a custom code. This code can be used to claim a custom discount
  2. Description: At this option, you can put an explanation about your discount code
  3. Discount Value: At this option, you can put any value as the discount value
  4. Type of Discount: At this option, you can choose what discount type you want. You can use percentage or exact value
  5. Maximum Usage: At this option, you can declare how many times does this coupon can be used
  6. Start Date: At this option, you can set when does the coupon start
  7. Expire Date: At this option, you can set when does the coupon end
  8. Coupon Status: At this option, you can set the status of the coupon. You can set the coupon active or inactive

Order Transactions

This theme also have a page to displaying how many orders you got. To access this page you can go to WordPress dashboard → Transactions

Payment Gateway – Authorize.net

To access this page, you can go to WordPress Dashboard → Directory → Payment Gateways Settings

  1. Option: To displaying the options, you can drag the Authorize.net Settings icon from left to right section
  2. Enable Authorize.net: If want to enable payment using Authorize.net, then you have to make this option active
  3. Description: At this field you can type a custom description that will be displayed when your customer choose this payment gateway
  4. API Login ID & Transaction Key: At this field you need to put your Authorize.net API ID and Transaction Key to authorize the use of this payment gateway
  5. SandBox Mode: If you want to test how does the payment works, then you use sandbox mode to test it. Note: your Authorize.net account need to have Sandbox Mode to use this feature

Payment Gateway – Bank Transfer

To access this page, you can go to WordPress Dashboard → Directory → Payment Gateways Settings

  1. Option: To displaying the options, you can drag the Bank Transfer Settings icon from left to right section
  2. Bank Transfer: To make bank transfer feature available, you can active this option. Also you can write an instructions at the text area available

Payment Gateway – PayPal

To access this page, you can go to WordPress Dashboard → Directory → Payment Gateways Settings

  1. Option: To displaying the options, you can drag the PayPal Settings icon from left to right section
  2. Enable PayPal: If want to enable payment using PayPal, then you have to make this option active (you will need to put your e-mail address that registered on PayPal)
  3. Description: At this field you can type a custom description that will be displayed when your customer choose this payment gateway
  4. PayPal IPN: To enable PayPal IPN feature on, then you have to make this option active
  5. IPN Debug: If you have PayPal IPN feature enabled, you can test it by activating this option. Note: you will need to have fsockopen on your hosting to make this feature work
  6. SandBox Mode: If you want to test how does the payment works, then you use sandbox mode to test it. Note: your PayPal account need to have Sandbox Mode to use this feature

Custom Forms

At the new version of Directory, you can modify/create your own forms (submit ads page). You can choose which fields should be available by create it, which fields should be removed, or which fields should be mark as important (have to be filled).

Default Fields

To check the default fields, you can go to WordPress dashboard → Directory → Custom Fields

At this page you can:

  • Change the description of each fields. Please note if the description of this fields cannot be translated using mo/po file, you have to write the description on your preferred language 
  • Change the fields name
  • Create a custom new fields. To create a custom fields you can do it by click on add new button at the top of this page

At this page even if you create several new fields, the fields you create will not be displayed. What will be displayed is the default fields (the grey cross icon is the mark of default fields, cannot be removed).

Create Custom Fields

If you create a new fields (WordPress dashboard → Directory → Custom Fields → Add New), you will have a forms like this one.

  • Field Name: At the field name, you can type your preferred name for the field
  • Field Description: At the field description, you can type a description about this text area, an explanation about what to do with the text area (this description only for the administrator, will not be displayed on the site)
  • Field Tooltip: At the field tooltip, you can type a description about what to do with the text area. The differences between tooltip and description is: description will be automatically displayed next to the text area. But, the tooltip isn’t, you have to click on the trigger to displaying the description (this tooltip only for the administrator, will not be displayed on the site)
  • Field Type: At this field type, you can choose what type of fields you want to create, the options available are: text box, drop down, text area, radio button, check box

Create Your Own Forms

By default you cannot modify (delete or change position) the default forms. But, at page WordPress dashboard → Directory → Forms Editor you are able to create your own fields.

Once this custom form is created, the default one will be hidden/overridden by the one you create.

To create your own form, you can click on add new button.

  1. Form Name: At this field you can type a custom name for your form. This form name will not be displayed on the site, just for the administrator
  2. Form Description: At this field you can type a custom description about the form you create. This description will not be displayed on the site, just for the administrator
  3. Available Categories: This section will displaying a list of ads categories you have. Once the category(ies) already choosen by another form(s), that category(ies) will be hidden (a warning will be displayed like image above)

After you create the form, then you can modify what fields should be available on the new form.

At this page you cannot add a new field (adding field can be done at WordPress dashboard → Directory → Custom Fields) but you can remove/add fields you want to display.

At this page you can also change the position of the fields by drag and drop it, change the status of the fields whether it is required or not (you cannot change the required status of title and description)

Dummy Content

If you need to have the same content and also display as our demo page, you can open the theme zip packages and you will find a folder named dummy-content. Inside the folder, there are 2 files you can use: XML and JSON

  1. XML: This file will bring all posts, pages, ads, thumbnail, etc. from our demo page. To use this file you can go to WordPress dashboard → Tools → Import. At this page you will be asked to install the importer plugin, after installing the plugin, choose import from WordPress and upload this file
  2. JSON: This file will bring all settings from the theme dashboard at our demo page. To use this file you can go to to WordPress dashboard → Directory → Import/Export Settings and upload this file
