Installing Directory
There are two ways to install Directory theme on your WordPress:
1. Installing via WordPress Dashboard
- Navigate to your WordPress Admin Menu and open Appearance → Themes section
- Switch to Install Themes tab
- Select Upload
- Browse for .zip file on your computer and install it
- Activate theme
2. Installing via FTP
- Open your FTP Client Application (example : FileZilla)
- Fill the login details (host, username, and password) then press Quickconnect
- Go to ‘wp-content’ folder
- Go to ‘themes’ folder then extract the directory.zip file into your local drive then search the current location and upload the ‘directory’ folder
Got an error during installation process? Try the following:
- If you are upgrading the Directory theme via WordPress Admin menu open your ‘directory.zip’ and rename the ‘directory’ folder before uploading. Eg: directory2. Then press Enter
- Make sure you are using the latest version of WordPress
- Make sure your hosting is running the latest version of PHP and MySQL
Try to upload manually via FTP (FileZilla)
Theme Overview
Framework Update
Please check for the framework notification update before you use the theme. Framework update will fix bug and many more.
- You can go to Directory → Update Framework or click the notification at Directory navigation bar
- The yellow notification after framework update shows if the update successful
General Settings
Before you can start creating some content these are the first-time settings that you have to do:
- Go to Directory Options → General Settings
- Choose an option to use title or logo for your website
- If you prefer to use logo, set your website’s logo by uploading an image or by attaching a URL (external image)
- Set your website’s favicon. Upload a 16x16px .ico image. Click here to generate your favicon
- You can choose whick status when you submit a post
- Specify a currency symbol that you will use in your website
FrontPage Settings
- Specify a blog description for your website
- Choose any ad category that you are going to display on the slider section
- Specify the number of entries that you are going to show on the latest submit section
Social Networking
- Go to Directory Options → Social Networking
- Specify your social networking accounts that you are going to integrate to your website. There are Twitter and Facebook account available
- Also you can enable/disable Social Share Button you would like to display on the single post and pages. There are Facebook Like Button, Twitter Share Button, and Google +1 Button available
Open Graph Setting
- Go to Directory Options → Open Graph Settings
- There is option to Enable/Disable Open Graph feature on your website
- You can specify the site name, open graph admin, and image url for your open graph image
Thumbnail Settings
- Go to Directory Options → Thumbnail Settings
- There is an option to use WordPress Featured Image or not. If you prefer to use it there are two additional options:
- Dynamic Resize: If this options is enabled, the thumbnail in each post will be resized dynamically using WordPress native function
- Hard Crop: The original image will be cropped to match the target aspect ratio
- There is an option to enable TimThumb.php script which will dynamically re-size images added through post custom field
- There is an option to generate post thumbnail automatically from the first image in post
- There is an option to enable post thumbnail in RSS feed article
- You can specify the thumbnail image size that you are going to use on your website
Analytics ID, RSS Feed
Go to Directory Options → Analytics ID, RSS Feed. In this section, you can:
- Put your GoSquared token
- Put your google analytics code in your website
- Specify your feedburner URL
- Specify the feedburner comments URL
Footer Settings
- Go to Directory Options → Footer Settings
- In this section you can enable/disable the custom credit on your website. If you enable this feature, there is an additional option to specify the text that you want to display on the footer section
Contact Form
Go to Directory Options → Contact Form. Specify the email addres that you are going to use in the contact form.
Ad Lists
Ad lists are entries similar to posts and also will be displayed on the homepage. You can access it in WordPress → Dashboard Ad Lists. There are six sub-menus under this panel. They are:
- Ad Lists: In this menu, you can select an Ad you would to edit, delete, or view. This menu is similar to All Post in WordPress default theme
- Ad New Ad: In this menu, you can add new ad on your website. There is ColorLabs Ad Detail Settings panel below the edit ad field. This panel contain some settings to customize your ad specification. They are:
- Item to show: You can choose which item you want to show in the single ad page. Is it image, video or none of them
- Email: An email address taht you are going to use as a contact
- Price: Price of your ad
- Expired in: Specify date when your ad would be expired
- Phone: Your phone number
- Location: Specify the location of your ad
- Website: You can put your ad’s website in it
- Google Maps Location: You can enter the google map data location
- Ad Categories : Similar to Categories, you can add, edit, and delete your ad categories you would use in your website
Page Template
There are 3 page templates available in Directory Theme. They are:
- Blog
- Sitemap
- Contact

Sidebar
- Go to WordPress Dashboard → Appearance → Widgets
- If you want to add widgets in your sidebar, simply drag any available widget to the sidebar column on the right
Directory provides 10 additional widget that you can use in your sidebar. They are :

- ColorLabs – Google Maps
- ColorLabs – Latest Custom Post Type

Upload error
If you found your screen goes blank (grey screen) and nothing happen, don’t worry it will happen if you just migrating from WordPress v 3.2.1 to WordPress 3.3. If this happen you can clear your browser cache and you can start uploading again.
Content Import/Export
At the new Directory themes package you will have a folder named ‘dummy-content’, this folder contain 2 files. The first file is JSON file, this file contain the theme settings to guide you to have the same settings as our demo. And the last file is XML file, this file will import the contents from our demo, so your site will have the same contents and looks as our demo.
This import/export function will help you to manage more than 1 sites if you choose to have the same theme.
File Editor
We also have the new feature that will help you to make the site more attractive. You can use custom file editor. This feature will not edit your original file so your file is safe. And also if there is an update for the theme you don’t have to worry about it, your modification will not lose. You can copy paste it to the new theme file editor.
