Galerie

Installing Galerie

There are two ways to install Initiator theme on your WordPress:

1. Installing via WordPress Dashboard

  1. Navigate to your WordPress Admin Menu and open Appearance → Themes section
  2. Switch to Install Themes tab
  3. Select Upload
  4. Browse for .zip file on your computer and install it
  5. Activate theme

2. Installing via FTP

  1. Open your FTP Client Application (example : FileZilla)
  2. Fill the login details (host, username, and password) then press Quickconnect
  3. Go to ‘wp-content’ folder
  4. Go to ‘themes’ folder
  5. Extract the galerie.zip file into your local drive, search the current location and upload the galerie folder

Got an error during installation process? Try the following :

  • If you are upgrading the Galerie theme via WordPress Admin menu open your ‘galerie.zip’ and rename the ‘galerie‘ folder before uploading. Eg: galerie2. Then press Enter.
  • Make sure you are using the latest version of WordPress
  • Make sure your hosting is running the latest version of PHP and MySQL
  • Try to upload manually via FTP (FileZilla)
  • Be sure you have at least PHP 4.3 with GD-library installed on your server. PHP 5 is better. GD library is something that can be installed by your web server admin. If you do not have this, please ask for that to your web administrator, and also at least WordPress 3.2.1 engine is installed.
  • If you’re using WordPress v 3.3.1 make sure if your hosting server meet the requirements

Theme Overview

Framework Update

Before you can start using Galerie make sure if check for framework update:

  1. Go to Dashboard → Galerie (theme panel)
  2. Check at Updates button at theme panel top menu bar

There will be a notification if framework update available, please update your framework to get the newest theme features and also bug fix.

General Settings

Before you can start creating some content these are the first-time settings that you have to do :

  1. Go to Galerie dashboard then pick ‘general settings’ icon. Drag the icon to the right space
  2. Galerie provide you a choice for header, you can display your site title or your logo
  3. You can also upload your own favicon
  4. If at ‘use for blog title/logo’ option you choose logo, then at this option you can upload your own logo. The best size (according to the default) is 230 x 72px, your uploaded image also will be displayed below the option
  5. The last setting at general settings is ‘Presstrends tracking’. This feature will sent us information how you use our theme, but there will be no personal information send.
    It’s your choice to enable it or not.

Front Page Settings

  1. Go to Galerie dasboard then click and drag ‘front page settings’ icon to the right space
  2. This option will allow you to set how many portfolio items displayed at front page

Social Networking Settings

  1. Go to Galerie dashboard then click and drag ‘social networking settings’ to the right space
  2. You can choose how many and which social button you want to add at social networking section at footer by insert your URL
  3. There also an option to activate social share button at your post so your subscriber can easily share your post

Thumbnail Settings

  1. Go to Galerie dashboard then click and drag ‘thumbnail settings’ icon to the right space
  2. You can disable or enable JQuery lightbox effect at your post (default is enable)
  3. You can also choose which image to be your thumbnail. If you checked it so your thumbnail will be your first image post but if you un-checked that your thumbnail will be your featured image or custom image post

Footer Settings

  1. Go to Galerie dashboard then click and drag ‘footer settings’ icon to the right space
  2. You can enable or disable footer custom creditIf you make it disable so ColorLabs credit will be written at your footer. You can also type any HTML tags at textbox available

Contact Form

  1. Go to Galerie dashboard then click and drag ‘contact form’ icon to the right space
  2. This setting will be available after you create a new page with ‘contact’ template
    Insert your e-mail address there, so any contact by your subscribers will be send to that e-mail. At contact page template we already add some protection to prevent any spam sent by boot to your e-mail
  3. After inserting your e-mail address then select the page with contact template

Create a Page With Template

We also provide you a page templates to make your life easier. There are several template available to use, some of them need body content and other don’t so read these guide first before you create page:

Go to page → add new

  1. Every template page need a title, just like an ordinary page
  2. After type the title check your right sidebar at ‘page attributes’. There will be several template you can use
  3. All of the template available don’t need any body content so left it blank
  4. We also add custom excerpt option but this will not work for the template, just for WordPress default template
  5. You also can choose discussion feature it will be allowed for comments or pingbacks
  6. If your site have several administrator or writers. You can choose who will publish the page

Portofolio – Page Template

Gallery – Page Template

For the first sight gallery page template with your front-page is just the same but it isn’t. Your gallery page template thumbnail will guide you to the post but the front-page thumbnail have drop-down effect.
Gallery page template will only take any post you have, but front-page will only take portofolio post.

Add New Portofolio

To add new portofolio, you can go to dashboard → portofolio

  1. Type the title first like you create an ordinary post
  2. You can create or use existing category
  3. Choose the copyright owner. The owner can be made at WordPress dashboard → users
  4. Write the body content for the description
  5. You can fill some informations at available text box
  6. You can create your own excerpt
  7. You can set if the portfolio can be commented or not

You front-page will only display portofolio.

Error Uploading Image(s)

When you’re trying to upload an image using WordPress engine version 3.3 and the screen become gray like this one then nothing happen don’t be panic. To cleared this problem you can just clear your cache via browser option.
