Installing Invitora Theme

There are two ways to install Invitora theme on your WordPress:

  1. Installing via WordPress Dashboard

    add-themes

    To install the theme via WordPress dashboard, you can go to WordPress Dashboard → Appearance → Themes.

    Once you get into that page, click the add new button at the top to install the ZIP theme file.

  2. Installing via FTP

    After you download the zip file from our member page, extract the file to your PC. Then, access your FTP using any FTP client (for example FileZilla), go to directory: wp-content → themes.

    Upload the extracted theme folder (invitora theme folder) to that directory. After the upload process is complete, you can go to WordPress dashboard → Appearance → Themes to activate Invitora theme you just upload.

Got an error during installation process? Try this following action:

  • Make sure you are using the latest version of WordPress
  • Make sure your hosting is running the latest version of PHP and MySQL. You can check WordPress minimum requirements here
  • If you can’t proceed the theme installation using the first step, please follow the second step to proceed
  • Make sure if your server folder is not protected. The common error message will say: Unable to create directory wp-content/sample-folder/. Is its parent directory writable by the server? (ask your hosting tech. guy if you got this error message)

Theme Options

General Settings

  1. Settings: To modify this options you can go to WordPress dashboard → Invitora → Dashboard → General Settings
  2. Theme Stylesheet: There are several stylesheet you can use depends on your event. This stylesheet not only change the theme color but also give you a default logo (this logo can be replaced by a custom image)
  3. Custom Favicon: At this option you can upload a custom favicon
  4. Main Layout: At this option you can set where does the sidebar should be displayed. This option affected all sidebars that this theme have: main sidebar (will be displayed on the main page) and page sidebar (will be displayed on the single post/page)
  5. Enable/Disable Custom Logo: At this option you can choose what you want to display at the logo section. If this option is off then you will get your site title displayed (text). Activate this option and another option will be displayed. With that option you can upload a custom image that will be displayed on the logo section. The height of the image doesn’t matter, but the maximum width is 300px
  6. Custom Sidebar Image: At this option you can upload a custom image that will be displayed on the main sidebar (main page only). The height of the image doesn’t matter but the maximum width is 300px
  7. Tagline: At this option you can type any text that will be displayed as the site tagline (displayed under the site logo)
  8. Description: At this option you can type any text that will be displayed as the site description. At this option you can type any HTML tag
  9. Post/Page Comments: At this option you can choose where does the comment form should be displayed. You can choose to displaying the comment form at post or page only or both of them
  10. Enable Press Trens Tracking: This feature will help us to report if there is a bug detected at theme you are using, and also this feature will tell us how does our client use the theme. There will be not any of your personal information sent to us. This option is optional, but we recommend to enable this option
  11. Disable Responsive: By default the theme will displaying a responsive design if accessed using a mobile device (depends on screen size). By activate this option, you will disable the responsive design, so your mobile device will displaying the same as you saw on PC. This option will not work if your device are not support the feature (make sure your device browser settings are configured to displaying web version)

Front Page Settings

  1. Settings: To modify this options you can go to WordPress dashboard → Invitora → Dashboard → Front Page Settings
  2. Featured Page: At this option you have to type any page ID you want to display at the main page. If you want to add more than one page, you can separate them using a coma

Getting Page ID

To get the page ID you can go to: WordPress dashboard → Page. Hover your mouse cursor to any page you want to get the ID. Once you do it, please check for the information bar that displayed on the bottom left of your browser.

At the information bar above you can find out this code: post=7&action=edit. The ID of the page you hovered is 7.

Social Networking Settings

  1. Settings: To modify this options you can go to WordPress dashboard → Invitora → Dashboard → Social Networking Settings
  2. Social Icon Title: At this option you can type any text that will be displayed above the social icons section at the main sidebar (main page)
  3. Social URL: You can choose which social networking icons should be displayed by put your social URLs at the available fields. Once you do it, an icon of social URL will be displayed on the main sidebar (main page)
  4. Enable/Disable Social Share Button: At this option you can choose which social share button should be displayed on the main sidebar and also at the single post

Thumbnail Settings

  1. Settings: To set this options go to WordPress dashboard → Invitora → Dashboard → Thumbnail Settings
  2. Featured Images: If this option is active, an image which is set as featured will be displayed as your post/page thumbnail
  3. Dynamic Resize: If this option is active, your image will dynamically resized, this feature require a PHP version minimum v 5.2 (higher is better)
  4. Hard Crop: If this option is active, your image will hard cropped, this feature is using timthumb to proceed
  5. Timthumb Image Resizer: If this option is inactive, all options on timthumb settings will be turned off
  6. Automatic Thumbnail: By default if option #2 is active, this option will take any image available on your post/page as your post/page thumbnail (first image uploaded on your post/page or featured image), but featured image is priority (if option #2 is active)
  7. Image on RSS Feed: If this option is active, you will have an image on your RSS feed

Analytics Settings

  1. Settings: To modify this option you can go to WordPress dashboard → Invitora → Dashboard → Analytics ID, RSS Feed Settings
  2. GoSquared Token: At this option you can put your GoSquared token to activate the GoSquared analytics feature
  3. Google Analytics: You can also use Google Analytics by inserting your code here
  4. Feed Burner: If you want to have a RSS link active at your site, then you will need to put your FeedBurner url and also FeedBurner comments url here

Footer Settings

  1. Settings: To modify this option you can go to WordPress dashboard → Invitora → Dashboard → Footer Settings
  2. Enable/Disable Custom Credit: Activate this option if you want to have a custom credit on the footer section. On the footer credit option you can type any HTML tag

Contact Form Settings

  1. Settings: To set this options you can go to WordPress dashboard → Invitora → Dashboard → Contact Form
  2. Destination E-mail Address: If you already create a page with page template contact, then at this option you have to put your e-mail address. Any inquiry made on your contact page template will be send to this e-mail address

Theme SEO Settings

This feature is added for them who just new to WordPress, this feature just a simple SEO settings. For the expert or the one who known WordPress well, usually they will search for another SEO plugins which are more powerful.

Page Title

Go to Invitora → Dashboard → SEO Settings → Page Title. In this section, there are options to set how the title of every page in your website will be displayed. They are:

  1. Option: To set this option, you can go to WordPress dashboard → Invitora → Dashboard → SEO tab
  2. Blog Title: Specify a text you want to display as a blog title
  3. Blog Description: Specify a sentence you want to display as a blog description
  4. Separator: Specify a character you would like to use as a separator in page title
  5. Custom Page Titles: Enable or disable this feature on your website. If you enable this option, there are additional options available. They are:
    • Homepage Title Layout: You can define the order of the elements on your homepage
    • Single Title Layout: You can define the order of the elements on the single title layout
    • Page Title Layout: You can define the order of the elements on the page title layout
    • Archive Title Layout: You can define the order of the elements on the archive title layout
    • Page Number: You can specify a text that precedes page number in page titles
    • Page Number Position: You can define the position you want to display the page number on your website

Description Meta

Go to Invitora → Dashboard → SEO Settings → Description Meta.

In this section, there are options to set meta description of your website. They are:

  1. Homepage Description: There are 3 options available to choose. Each option describes the source where the home page meta description is populated
  2. Custom Homepage Description: Specify a decription of your homepage
  3. Single Page/Post Description: There are 3 options available you can choose the source where the single page/post meta description is populated
  4. Global Post/Page Description: Enable or disable custom meta description on your posts and pages

Keyword Meta

Go to Invitora → Dashboard → SEO Settings → Keyword Meta.

In this section, there are options to set keyword meta of your website. They are:

  1. Homepage Keywords: There are 2 options available to choose. Each option describes the source where the homepage meta keywords is populated
  2. Custom Homepage Keywords: Specify a custom homepage keywords of your website. Separate each keyword using comma
  3. Single Page/Post Keywords: There are 3 options available you can choose the source where the single page/post meta keywords is populated
  4. Global Post/Page Keywords: Enable or disable custom meta keywords on your posts and pages

Indexing Options

Go to Invitora → Dashboard → SEO Settings → Indexing options. Options available:

  1. Archive Pages to Index: Select which archive page to be indexed
  2. Add Follow Meta to Posts and Pages: Enable or disable a feature to add follow meta in all of your posts and pages

Advanced Options

Go to Invitora → Dashboard → SEO Settings → Advanced options. There is option available to enable or disable 3rd party plugin data and also there is an option to hide ColorLabs SEO Settings box from the post and page editing screens.

Theme Customizer Importer

This feature talking about WordPress v 3.4.1 new feature, Customizer. This function will help you to import/export what you have customize on customizer. To import the customizr settings, you can go to the theme demo page and click on Customizr icon (brush icon).

Theme Update

To access the update page, you can go to:WordPress dashboard → Invitora → Updates.

If there is an update available, update feature will tell you by a notification. You can update your framework and theme automatically but be careful because if your site already modified a lot with theme update function, all of your work will be gone. So please make a back-up files first before updating your theme.

Automatic Update

At Invitora theme, we have a feature which will help you to get the latest updates from us. You can update your framework first before updating your theme, this framework will bring several bug fix (the kitchen codes, core files). Also there is an automatic theme update which will help you to update the theme easily. If you have a problem when do the update, please:

  • Make sure if your hosting provider support cURL feature
  • Make sure if folder directory named wp-content permission at least 755 or 777
  • Make sure if you are using the login information which is given when you purchase our products, also make sure if the information is valid. You can check your login information by login into our member site

Theme Manual Update

If you are facing a problem with the automatic update (failed, white screen, etc.), update both the theme and framework manually is recommended.

To do it, an access to FTP is needed. You can use a third party FTP agent such as FileZilla, etc.

Proceeding The Manual Update

To proceed the update, first you need to logging in into your FTP and go to directory: wp-content → themes. Rename the Invitora folder that available on that directory into any name you want, for example ‘old-invitora’ (for a backup).

Then upload the Invitora folder you extract earlier via FTP to directory: wp-content → themes. As right now the update process already done, but your theme is not yet 100% compatible with the newest WordPress version.

Upload the framework files you have (excluding the folder you made) to directory: wp-content → themes → Invitora → functions and replace all files available and done.

To complete the update, go to your WordPress dashboard → Invitora and click the ‘save changes’ button.

Got an error during update process?

  • Make sure if your hosting provider have cURL feature enabled
  • Theme folder (wp-content → themes) CHMOD is 777 or 755
  • Make sure if your username/password is correct and active
  • Make sure if you have the latest version of framework
  • Make sure if your server folder is not protected
  • If you get a notification that your account cannot be used for update, renew your password at our member page. Make sure if you are not using to much special character

Miscellaneous

Page Template

Invitora have several page templates which you can use them to improve your blogging experience. To create it, you can follow these instructions below:

  1. Add Contact: Invitora have an embedded contact form manager feature. With this feature you can easily create any forms, text area, radio button, etc. (for details check section below). Once you made your own form, you can put those forms on the page/post just by choosing the forms name from this drop down menu
  2. Page Template: Invitora have several page templates that can be used to help you create a great blog. They are: blog, contact and gallery. To create a page with a template on it, type a name for your page, choose a template then publish it
  3. Number of Pictures to Show: This option only available when you want to create a page using gallery template. On this option you can declare how many post thumbnail should be displayed
  4. Item To Show: There are 3 options available:
    • None: This is the default value if you are not going to use the other 2 options
    • Custom Post Image: Basically custom post image is same as featured image which will not displayed on post content, just as the post thumbnail. The main advantage of this feature is: if you put an external URL of an image, those image will not stored on your web disk
    • Video Embed Code: To have a video thumbnail displayed, you have to put the video embed code to this text area. Your code should be displayed like this one:
      <iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/PVPt0LN2ssA" height="315" width="560" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0"></iframe>
      

      Make sure if you only use an embed code from popular video sharing like Youtube or Vimeo (to make sure if the video displayed well on mobile device)

  5. SEO: You can set the SEO options here individually. You can set SEO_follow (allow search engine to crawl on your post) or SEO_noindex (prevent search engine to crawl on your post)

Add Post

  1. Shortcodes: With Invitora theme you can use many useful shortcodes to help you make a great post such as table, buttons, column design, etc.
  2. Item To Show: There are 3 options available:
    • None: This is the default value if you are not going to use the other 2 options
    • Custom Post Image: Basically custom post image is same as featured image which will not displayed on post content, just as the post thumbnail. The main advantage of this feature is: if you put an external URL of an image, those image will not stored on your web disk
    • Video Embed Code: To have a video thumbnail displayed, you have to put the video embed code to this text area. Your code should be displayed like this one:

Add Custom Menu

This theme have a menu navigation support at the header. With custom menu navigation, you can build a custom menu items. To do it, you can go to: WordPress dashboard → Appearance → Menus.

  1. Menu Name: This menu name can also be called by a menu group. Before you can use the custom menu feature, you have to type a name for it first. The menu name will not be displayed on any page, just for the administrator
  2. Menu Items: For the menu item, you can put anything as the menu item. If you want to check what you can add as a menu item, just click on a button named screen option on the top-right of your page. Once you did it, a screen will be will displayed, on this screen you can tick any item you want to use
  3. Menu Items: If you tick any option on option number #2, the item(s) will be displayed on this section. You can add as many items you want. If you want to make a sub menu, drag your item to the right
  4. Menu Settings: If you feel that your menu items and composition already good enough, at this option you can set where the menu navigation should be displayed

Custom File Editor

Invitora also provide a custom CSS editor, so if you want to modify the looks of your site (CSS customization), you can do it here. If you write your CSS modification here, you will not need to worry to lose your work if there is an update for theme. Your custom.css file will be stored at directory wp-content → uploads

To access this page, you can go to WordPress dashboard → Invitora → Custom File Editor.

Contact Form

By using this theme you can create a custom contact form, which means you can design/create your own custom fields. All inquiries made via this custom form will be delivered into your e-mail address.

To access this page, you can go to: WordPress dashboard → Invitora → Contact Form.

  1. Form Title: At this field you need to put a title for your custom form (this field is mandatory, can’t be left empty)
  2. Generate Tag: This option can be used to generate any field you want. By clicking this button, several fields option will be available.
    Once you choose a field, there will be 2 (two) codes available
  3. Form Fields: At option number #2 you will get 2 codes generated, copy the first one into this field and make sure if you wrap it using a paragraph tags (example displayed on the image)
  4. E-mail Fields: At this field you can designing the looks of e-mail you will get when someone submitting an e-mail.
    To designing it, copy the second code that generated at option number #2 without wrapping it with any code (example displayed on the image)
  5. Recipient Configuration:  At these fields you can set who is the recipient, e-mail subject and also an additional header
  6. Response Message: At this fields you can type a custom message (success and failed message) when someone submitting an e-mail via this custom contact form

Once you are done designing your custom form, you can embed it into a page or post by using the shortcode (available at the editor’s toolbar).

Import/Export Theme Settings

If you have to manage 2 or more sites that using the same theme, you can use this import/export settings feature. The output/input file should be a json file, and if you importing the settings from a site to another, your another site will have the same settings like your main site (only work perfectly if both site have the same category, tags and pages).

Dummy Content

If you need to have the same content and also display as our demo page, you can open the theme zip packages and you will find a folder named dummy-content. Inside the folder, there are XML files you can use. This file will bring all posts, pages, ads, thumbnail, etc. from our demo page. To use this file you can go to WordPress dashboard → Tools → Import. At this page you will be asked to install the importer plugin, after installing the plugin, choose import from WordPress and upload this file.
