Installing Venturos Theme

There are two ways to install Venturos theme on your WordPress:

1. Installing via WordPress Dashboard

1. Navigate to your WordPress Admin Menu and open Appearance → Themes section
2. Switch to Install Themes tab
3. Select Upload
4. Browse for .zip file on your computer and install it
5. Activate theme

2. Installing via FTP

1. Open your FTP Client Application (example : FileZilla)
2. Fill the login details (host, username, and password) then press Quickconnect
3. Go to ‘wp-content’ folder
4. Go to ‘themes’ folder
5. Extract the venturos.zip file into your local drive and search the current location and upload the Venturos folder

Got an error during installation process? Try the following:

• If you are upgrading the Venturos theme via WordPress Admin menu open your ‘venturos.zip’ and rename the ‘venturos’ folder before uploading. Eg: venturos2. Then press Enter
• Make sure you are using the latest version of WordPress
• Make sure your hosting is running the latest version of PHP and MySQL
  Try to upload manually via FTP (FileZilla)

Theme Panel

Venturos uses a new version of our theme panel. This new panel will provides you more impressive experience to explore our themes. There are 4 sub menus inside of it. They are:

• Dashboard

Dashboard panel contains a lot of settings to customize Venturos theme. Within this panel you can configure the theme customize it’s layout. Just drag and drop the option from the left column into the right column to show all sub-options inside of it. 

• SEO Settings

This feature will help you who just new to WordPress. With this feature you don’t have to think about SEO, we already prepared all of your needs here, but still it is just a basic SEO function.

For you who already know or maybe expert on WordPress you can go download many SEO plugin available at WordPress.org

• Customizer Importer

This feature talking about WordPress v 3.4.2 new feature, Customizer. But this is not a customizer but a function that will help you to import/export what you have customize on customizer.

• Updates

 

This feature provide you an information if there is a framework update or theme update. You can automatically update your framework and theme, but be careful because if your site already modified a lot with theme update function all of your work will be gone. So please made a back-up first before updating your theme.

Note: If you already update your framework and your framework version still not updated but yellow notification already appear, that’s means if your framework already updated. To refresh the framework version information you can click on ‘updates’ tab and your framework version will be refreshed.

For theme update, make sure if your wp-content folder is not protected and also cURL is enabled at your hosting provider.

Page Template

Venturos have several page templates which you can use to improve your blogging experience. To create it, you can follow instructions below:

1. Page Template: There are several templates you can use. They are Blog, Contact Form, Portfolio Page and Sitemap. To use this page template you can simply type the title and choose what template you want to use then publish it
2. Featured: There is an option to make the page you create to be displayed at ‘featured page section’ at front page
3. Layout: By this option you can set the page sidebar position. You can set it to have no sidebar, sidebar at left or sidebar at right
4. Custom SEO: By this option you can choose to activate SEO Follow (make search engine to follow any links typed at this page) and SEO No Index (prevent search engine to indexing this page)
5. Page Icon: By this option you can have an icon  for your page. This icon will displayed at ‘featured page section’ also at single page

Add Post

There are several settings that you must know before creating a post with Venturos theme:

1. Post Details: This options will help you who just new to WordPress. This option will help you to upload an image or video. To inserting a video to your post, you have to copy the embed code not the share code or video url. Any image or video uploaded from this option will displayed at the top of the post
   
2. Post Format: There are several post format you can use, they are video, image, quote, link, aside, gallery, status, audio and chat. By using this post format, you will have an icon displayed at the left of the post
   
3. Audio URL: If you choosing audio post format then you can insert your audio url here
   
4. Quote Author: If you choosing quote post format then you can type the author of the quote
5. Link Post: If you choosing link post format then you can type the redirect url here
6. Custom Ad: By default all post/page will have an ad that configured at ‘single ad settings’. But by this option you can have a custom ad that by passed the ‘single ad settings’
7. Page Layout: By this option you can set the sidebar position. You can have no sidebar, sidebar at left or sidebar at right
8. Cutom SEO: By this option you can choose to activate SEO Follow (make search engine to follow any links typed at this page) and SEO No Index (prevent search engine to indexing this page)
9. Custom Excerpt: By default excerpt will automatically generated from the content of the post but by this option you can create your own excerpt

You can use a shortcode at post/page/portfolio by click on Lemuel head. This shortcode will help you to create several objects like buttons, icon link, info box, custom typography, etc.

Post Format Gallery

To create a gallery post format you can choose ‘gallery’ at format tab then upload several image(s) to your WordPress, after finish uploading one image continue uploading next images without click on ‘set as featured image‘ or ‘insert to post‘.

After you finish uploading image, you can simply set ‘image file‘, set your image order and columns then click on ‘insert gallery‘ button.

Post Image Format

To make post image format you can choose ‘image’ at format tab then set a featured image.

Post Link Format

To create post link format you can simply choose ‘link‘ at format tab then type some words (this words will be an excerpt, so don’t too long). After that type your URL at ‘link post‘.

At this format you cannot see the full post, when your visitor click your post title at front page they will automatically directed to your URL.

 Post Quote Format

To create post quote format you can choose ‘quote‘ at format tab then type the quote. After that at ‘quote author‘ you can type the original writer of the quote.

Post Status Format

To create post status format you can choose ‘status‘ at format tab then type your status link at body content.

Portfolio

Venturos also have post type portfolio. The slider at front page (headline section) will only displaying portfolio, not a post. Creating portfolio is same as creating a normal post so it will be easy for you to create it. Also there are several things you should know before create a portfolio:

1. Portfolio Category: Before/after creating a portfolio you will need to assign a category to that portfolio. Without a category you cannot choose what portfolio category to be displayed at headline section
2. Portfolio Skill(s): Portfolio skill(s) is same as ‘post tag’
3. Testimonial(s): By this option you can type your customers tought about your work here
4. Client Name: You can type the name of your client
5. Client URL: You can type your client site url here
6. Service: You can type what skill that needed to complete your client request(s) here
7. Custom Ad: By default all post/page will have an ad that configured at ‘single ad settings’. But by this option you can have a custom ad that by passed the ‘single ad settings’
8. Page Layout: By this option you can set the sidebar position. You can have no sidebar, sidebar at left or sidebar at right

Theme Options

There are many options available to customize the theme:

General Settings

1. Settings: To modify this options you can go to WordPress dashboard → Venturos → Dashboard → General Settings
2. Blog Title/Logo: You can choose to displaying a logo or your site name by set this option
3. Favicon: You can upload favicon with this feature. If you don’t have one, you can generate it from here
4. Logo: If at point #2 you choose to displaying a logo then you can upload your own logo with resolution of 219 x 48px (recommended)
5. Footer Logo: You can also have a logo at footer section
6. Main Layout:You can set how your site displayed. With this feature you can set the sidebar position, it can be hidden or displaying
7. Disable Responsive: There are some of you who want to get the same display at PC and also gadget (smart phone, tab). With this feature you can disable mobile view

Frontpage Settings

1. Settings: To modify this option you can go to WordPress dashboard → Venturos → Dashboard → Front Page Settings
   
2. Headline Category: By this option you can choose which portfolio category to be displayed at headline section
3. Home Tagline: You can type custom tagline here. At the text area you can also type HTML tags
4. Featured Page Label: By this option you can type custom label at featured page section
   
5. Latest Portfolio Label: By this option you can type custom label at latest portfolio section
   
6. Latest Portfolio: By this option you can limit how many portfolio post will be displayed at latest portfolio section
   
7. Portfolio Page Links: At the bottom of latest portfolio section there is a link (View all of our projects) to see whole portfolios you made. To make that link works, you will need to create ‘portfolio page template’ first then set that page at this option
   

Social Networking

1. Settings: To set this options go to WordPress dashboard → Venturos → Dashboard → Social Networking
   
2. Social URL: You can displaying your favorite social networking icon at sidebar by filling your URL here
3. Social Share Buttons: You can choose which social share buttons you want to add at the end of your post

Analytics ID, RSS Feed

1. Settings: To set this options go to WordPress dashboard → Venturos → Dashboard → Analytics ID, RSS feed
   
2. PressTrends Tracking: This feature will tell us how you are using our themes, none of your personal information will be send. This feature will help us to improve the theme on the next update. So it is your choice to use it or not
   
3. GoSquared: You can use GoSquared analytics feature by inserting your token here
   
4. Google Analytics: You can also use Google Analytics by inserting your code here
   
5. FeedBurner: Venturos support subscribe function by FeedBurner. If you want to have a subscribers then you will need to register to FeedBurner and insert your id here
6. FeedBurner url: To use FeedBurner service you will need to type your FeedBurner url and comment url here
   

Footer Settings

1. Settings: To set this options you can go to WordPress dashboard → Venturos → Dashboard → Footer Settings
2. Enable/Disable Credit: You can have your own credit by activating this option, when you activate it a text box will appear. At this text box you can type your credit, even using HTML tag on it. If you disable this option, our default credit will appear

Contact Form

1. Settings: To set this option you can go to WordPress dashboard → Venturos → Dashboard → Contact Form
   
2. E-mail Address: Venturos support to displaying a contact form so the visitors can get in touch to you. If you use the contact form then you will need to type your e-mail address here
3. Longitude and Latitude: At contact form page template there is a map displayed. You can set the map location by inserting your longitude and latitude here

SEO Settings

This feature added for them who just new to WordPress, this feature just a simple SEO settings. For the expert or the one who know WordPress well usually they will search for another SEO plugins which more powerful.

Page Title

1. Settings: Go to Venturos → Dashboard → SEO Settings → Page Title. In this section, there are options to set how the title of every page in your website will be displayed
2. Blog Title: Specify a text you want to display as a blog title
3. Blog Description: Specify a sentence you want to display as a blog description
4. Separator: Specify a character you would like to use as a separator in page title
5. Custom Page Titles: Enable or disable this feature on your website. If you enable this option, there are additional options available. They are:
   • Homepage Title Layout: You can define the order of the elements on your homepage
   • Single Title Layout: You can define the order of the elements on the single title layout
   • Page Title Layout: You can define the order of the elements on the page title layout
   • Archive Title Layout: You can define the order of the elements on the archive title layout
   • Page Number: You can specify a text that precedes page number in page titles
   • Page Number Position: You can define the position you want to display the page number on your website

Description Meta

Go to Venturos → Dashboard → SEO Settings → Description Meta.

In this section, there are options to set meta description of your website. They are:

1. Homepage Description: There are 3 options available to choose. Each option describes the source where the home page meta description is populated
2. Custom Homepage Description: Specify a decription of your homepage
3. Single Page/Post Description: There are 3 options available you can choose the source where the single page/post meta description is populated
4. Global Post/Page Description: Enable or disable custom meta description on your posts and pages

Keyword Meta

Go to Venturos → Dashboard → SEO Settings → Keyword Meta.

In this section, there are options to set keyword meta of your website. They are:

1. Homepage Keywords: There are 2 options available to choose. Each option describes the source where the homepage meta keywords is populated
2. Custom Homepage Keywords: Specify a custom homepage keywords of your website. Separate each keyword using comma
3. Single Page/Post Keywords: There are 3 options available you can choose the source where the single page/post meta keywords is populated
4. Global Post/Page Keywords: Enable or disable custom meta keywords on your posts and pages

Indexing Options

Go to Venturos → Dashboard → SEO Settings → Indexing options. Options available:

1. Archive Pages to Index: Select which archive page to be indexed
2. Add Follow Meta to Posts and Pages: Enable or disable a feature to add follow meta in all of your posts and pages

Advanced Options

Go to Venturos → Dashboard → SEO Settings → Advanced options. There is option available to enable or disable 3rd party plugin data and also there is an option to hide ColorLabs SEO Settings box from the post and page editing screens.

Background

Venturos also support to have custom background color/image. To set it you can go to WordPress dashboard → Appearance → Background.

At Venturos you can also have custom header background. This background will displayed at single content page/post/portfolio. The best size of header background is 985 x 185 px.

Import/Export Settings

Venturos also have import/export settings feature. This feature will help you who manage several sites which use the same theme. You can choose to export all settings, theme options only or SEO settings only. The output and input file is a .json file.

At Venturos zip folder we also including json file also xml file. With this two files you can have the same content and settings as our demo page. To access this settings you can go to WordPress dashboard → Venturos → Import/Export Settings. And to acces WordPress import/export content you will have to install a plugin named ‘WordPress importer‘ first.

Menu Navigation

Venturos support to displaying 2 menu navigations, at header and at footer. To add menu navigation you can go to WordPress dashboard → Appearance → Menus.

1. Menu Group: Before adding menu item(s) you will need to create a menu group first. If you never add it before, you can click on ‘+’ button to create it
2. Menu Items: After creating menu group, the next step is adding menu items. You can add page, post category, post tags, product category, product tags, product brands and custom links. To add it, you can tick any items you want to ad then click on ‘add to menu’ button. After adding it, you can control which is the main menu and which is the child/sub menu by drag it to right/left. You can also drag it to top and bottom to configure the position (menu navigation start from left to right). Only header menu navigation which support child/sub menu. If you didn’t see menu item sources like we tell before, click on ‘screen options’ button at the very top-right of your browser then check what source(s) you want to add.
3. Menu Source: After finish creating step#1 and #2, you can choose which group you want to display
