Fresh up in the mix is a beyond BEAUTIFUL and classy wedding at the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens between a couple of genuinely warm hearted people that are a pleasure to be around… not only that but Jen n Luke are talented palm springs wedding photographers themselves! I’ll be honest here when I say its always kinda of intimidating for me to shoot for other photographers. I’m not sure why that is. I mean, you’d think that by now being 8 years in I would have this thing down and I wouldn’t get nerves. I mean, I know how I am and when I am a guest at a wedding… I am analyzing the wedding photographers moves! taking in what they are doing, OR not doing… why they did this or didn’t do it. I just imagine [as a photographer] that being photographed on your big day would be that same thing.. probably more. Perhaps there will always be level of self inflicted pressure to perform and knock it out of the park… I’ve seen some serious influential photogs at work and have come to the conclusion that we all have totally different systems and approaches [that’s what makes it great and makes us all unique in what we do]. So it really is an honor whenever another wedding industry professional loves what we are doing enough to ask us to capture the big days moments for them : )
The day was perfect and there was no need to worry. EVERY detail was in place and the ceremony and reception were perfectly put together and far exceeded my expectations. The weather was menacing at first and although it threatened rain for a bit with black clouds, it wasnt long before they parted and left us with beautifully blue textured skies. Made for amazing photos later on with the bridal party and the two of them.
I’d grown up in Palm Desert as a kid and been to The Living Desert a few times… but it had been years since I had last been there and today did not disappoint! It really is such a cool place to have a wedding and they do a great job over there bringing out animals for the guests to hang out and interact with. I mean they’ve got a freakin high fiving porcupine!! Whats not to love about that?!?! Definitely something the guests will totally NEVER forget!
The food was not your typical wedding day grub, thats for sure. Living Desert handles all that on site and it was amazing! Jen and Luke also brought in some amazing wood fired pizza as well!! The Music kept the party going all night and there were a game or two mixed in there as well. A slideshow playing in the background during the father /daughter + mother/son dances had everyone in tears… again.. I say again cause as you will see in the pics below, the ceremony was extremely emotional with tears from both Jennifer and Luke. Annnnnd you know how that goes, once a couple starts tearing up its on. That stuff is straight contagious and spread to the family and friends watching within seconds.
All n all an epic day we were so fortunate to be a part of! Much love to all the people involved in making this beautiful wedding at the Living Desert go off without a hitch and for Jen and Luke for being delightful to “work” with… I say it like that cause this isnt work at all. New [wonderful] people at a new [fabulous] party every weekend. We’ve got the best “job” ever.
I usually dont break this up once I have a flow going with photos ….
BUT I didnt want the eye to just glaze over these details below!!
These are some of the best boutineers I have ever seen.
Made by hand with lots of love each spirit animal for a different member of the crew. VERY cool
How about this invite!?!?
Totally appropriate for the travel theme they had!
Luke and Jennifer’s invite was perfectly designed to fold up into a paper plane!!
And when folded it left them in the center right there next to one another.
THAT WAS EPIC!
Glad to see you made it through.
