Camino Gummies

Inspired by the beautiful 600-mile road that lazily wanders up the coast of California, the golden-colored Camino Cannabis-infused gummies live up to their name. Thoughtfully and carefully created by a brand by the name of KIVA.

A company started in 2010 by the Palmers, a fellow cannabis-loving couple. KIVA prides itself on its consistent, controlled doses of cannabis in each product- only products with 5mg THC or less per serving. Scott and Kristi Palmer originally sold chocolate bars but have now added additional lines of delicious products for any stoner to enjoy, including Terra (“decadent and discreet bites”), Petra (“sweet and subtle” mints), Camino (“innovative and inspiring” gummies) and Lost Farms (“novel and powerful” chews). For the purpose of this review, we will focus on the Camino product line- more specifically, the watermelon lemonade and pineapple habanero flavored gummies. Other flavors in this product line include sparkling pear, wild berry, midnight blueberry, blood orange, Yuzo lemon, and tropical punch.

First Impressions:

The packaging of these gummies first drew me to try this product. The packaging is colorful and stylish, cartoon-like but in a sophisticated way. The word “groovy” comes to mind. Each tin of gummies has a short and sweet background story inside the top, painting a colorful picture in your mind.

The gummies themselves smell and look delicious. There’s no “weedy” smell (or taste, for that matter), and they look and feel like any quality gummies should. Each has 5mg of THC, and the packaging warns users to wait 2 hours for the full effect before attempting to increase the dosage. While these are not considered KOSHER, they do not contain artificial flavors. These gummies are made in a facility that also processes milk, soy, nuts, and gluten products, so those with allergies beware.

Pineapple Habanero gummies:

Details—

  • KIVA’s website brags about the ‘uplifting effect’ of these gummies.
  • They are loaded with the following terpenes (AKA moon-enhancing essential oils that can elevate or alter the experienced effects):
    • Limonene = reduces stress, alleviates asthma and allergies, and reduces inflammation and antioxidants.
    • Beta-Caryophyllene = may assist with the body’s response to anxiety & stress.
    • Linalool = anti-anxiety, sedating effects.
    • Alpha-Pinene = improves attention span to deliver a more lucid & focused experience.

Taste/Experience—

  • As for taste, I expected more of a powerful punch considering the habanero flavor in these gummies, but in reality, they tasted pretty tart to me, with a sour and spicy aftertaste. Luckily, this spice doesn’t last very long, and thankfully the pineapple taste comes in quickly, although not strong enough, in my opinion.
  • No ‘weedy’ taste or smell could prove great for those with stomachs sensitive to that. However, I wouldn’t recommend taking more than one, as I feel my stomach would turn from the habanero-tang.
  • I definitely felt and agree with the uplifting energy KIVA bragged about on their website. During my experience, I felt very focused and energized, with a whole-body high. It took about 45 minutes to start feeling any sort of effect, with the full experience lasting a few hours.

Watermelon Lemonade gummies:

Caminos Gummies

Details—

  • KIVA’s website brags about the ‘bliss effect’ of these gummies.
  • These are considered a hybrid- a “synergistic blend of Sativa and Indica-like terpenes, with notes of juicy watermelon and tart citrus,” states their website.
  • Terpenes involved:
    • Limonene = reduces stress, alleviates asthma and allergies, and reduces inflammation and antioxidants.
    • Beta-Caryophyllene = may assist with the body’s response to anxiety & stress.
    • Humulene = provides therapeutic benefits like pain relief, anti-inflammatory effects; it can also act as an appetite suppressant.
    • Nerolidol = offers a wide range of therapeutic properties, including anti-ulcer, antioxidant, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory. Delivers anti-anxiety effects without hampering coordination.

Taste/Experience—

  • As for taste, these gummies took the cake. They tasted almost like actual Welch’s fruit snacks you would get from the local store- sweet, tangy, with a strong berry taste. I did not taste much, if any, of the lemonade flavor.

Caminos GummiesOverall, I would give these gummies a 10/10. Personally, the pineapple habanero flavor is not for me, but I would buy and eat the watermelon lemonade flavor for a chill, consistent high.
