The Best 4K UHD Blu-Ray Releases of 2019 (So Far)

Intro

People often forget that when you stream movies, you’re more than likely sacrificing video quality. Sure, it’s convenient to have thousands of movies at your fingertips, but what if you want to be blown away by the latest video technology? The truth is that it’s hard to find genuinely crystal-clear resolution, dazzling colors, and other improved dynamics on platforms like Netflix and Hulu. These platforms work hard to bring you the best video quality they can under the circumstances. However, a streaming service will never be able to match that of 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray technology.

When you watch a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray with a high-quality player, you can get the most out of that advanced television sitting in your living room. Streaming movies is enjoyable, but nothing special. When you play HD Blu-rays, you can replicate the experience of a movie theater in your own home.

The only thing left to do is choose a movie to watch from the many options available today.

With that said, let’s check out some of 2019’s most promising Ultra HD films of 2019.

 Alien

Ridley Scott’s sci-fi masterpiece is every bit as enjoyable as it was decades ago, and 4K UHD Blu-ray quality breathes new life into the film. Even though the film itself isn’t as technologically advanced as some of the other movies on our list. We guarantee you’ll enjoy the 10-bit color depth and increased quality.

The film has been restored in 4K, and it’s easy to spot the differences. In many ways, this is the perfect movie to showcase what an Ultra HD Blu-ray is capable of because you can compare the original version to the restored 2018 version.

 The Entire X-Men Series

Yes, the entire X-Men series is available on Ultra HD Blu-ray, so gather your friends and family for a marathon movie-watching session to remember. We all know that the X-Men movies are filled with all kinds of special effects, breathtaking stunts, and incredible costumes. With the increase in quality, you can see and feel those extra-dimensional powers come to life.

Sure, some X-Men movies are better than others. You can pretty much guarantee that you’re going to be entertained no matter which X-Men movie you decide to watch. And even if you’ve seen your favorite X-Men movie dozens of times already, seeing it once again in Ultra HD will be almost like watching again for the first time.

 Toy Story

If you’re looking for an excellent 4K UHD movie for the whole family, Toy Story is an obvious choice. This movie never gets old, and it was the first film to propel Pixar to its rightful spot among cinematic royalty.

Sure, Toy Story is quite dated in 2019, but that doesn’t mean you can’t gain a whole new appreciation for this classic once you see it in Ultra HD. If you’re going to amass a collection of Ultra-HD Blu-rays, this is a must-have.

 Deadpool 2

Although Deadpool 2 is another entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s really in a league of its own. It’s unlike any other superhero movie you’ll ever see – unless you count the first Deadpool movie. It’s certainly not suitable for children – at least not young ones.

Mixing incredibly satisfying action sequences with a generous dose of sarcastic humor, Deadpool is many things, but certainly not boring.

 Black Hawk Down

An unforgettable war movie, Black Hawk Down, definitely benefits from the boost in quality supplied by Ultra HD Blu-ray. One of the most stunning features of Ultra HD films is the increased resolution. You’ll undoubtedly notice this addition as shrapnel flies from explosions and bullets dart through the air.

Black Hawk Down does an excellent job of portraying war realistically, without glorifying bloodshed.

 Kingsman: The Golden Circle

If you’re a fan of the Kingsman series, this is another excellent addition to your Ultra HD Blu-ray collection. It’s a sequel to the first Kingsman movie, and it’s every bit as exciting. Like many of the films on this list, it benefits from the increased resolution and color quality that Ultra HD Blu-ray brings to the table.

It’s also a relatively new movie, so the film itself also includes some of the most groundbreaking and advanced stunts and special effects.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

As far as the Marvel Cinematic Universe goes, the Guardians of the Galaxy series is one of the most universally loved. It’s kid-friendly while it also brings plenty of action and excitement to the table for us adults.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 brings the series in a new direction, exploring new planets and fighting new enemies. Its storyline has enough twists, turns, and genuinely funny jokes to entertain just about anyone.

 Bohemian Rhapsody

Even if you’re not a fan of the band Queen, you’ll probably enjoy an inside look into the life of Freddie Mercury. Love him or hate him, you have to agree that the man was certainly interesting. He left us with some of the most iconic pop songs of all time, and his story was always going to be an enticing movie.

Bohemian Rhapsody is another film that looks beautiful when converted into Ultra HD, and we recommend that you add it to your collection simply because of the gorgeous cinematography.

 Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel is one of the newest superhero movies out right now, and it came out in 2019. If you’re looking for a completely brand-new movie, then this could be a great option.

As far as superhero movies go, it’s one of the most universally praised and highest-performing in the box office. This movie could be an excellent way to compare the experience of your home theater system with that of a real cinema.

 Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Putting aside the fact that this was one of the best films of recent years, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is undeniably a visual achievement of the highest order. The ingenuity and breathtaking creativity that went into this film shine through regardless of the format.

That being said, it’s clear that this film was intended to be seen with high-quality video equipment. Seeing this movie in 4K UHD is just as good as seeing it in a 3D IMAX movie theater.
