Things You Should Have or Do When Moving in A New Place Together

So you have had a great wedding, a big celebration. But you still live together in a small apartment or a house that is too small for you and your kids. (If you have them before the wedding) And now you have decided that you need something bigger. So before you moved into each other’s place, either girlfriend moved to a guy’s place or the other way around.  Now is the time to consider moving into a large place to accommodate both of your belongings. A place that you can call “our place”.

And you probably don’t have some loving stuff that belongs to you both that brings back memories from a wedding or the day you met each other.  That is why we made a list of things that you can gift to each other or buy together to make your relationship loving and have some memories from your wedding.

Custom Map

This is a very personalized gift that can make memories forever. You can create a custom map with a location that is or was important to you.

For example, let’s say you got married in Los Angeles, Malibu. So you can have a map of malibu and market street where you got married, or the church marked on it.

That means you can hang it in your living room or dining room, so you always remember where you got married and always remember that special day of you both. It can also be a cool above bed decor for your bedroom.

Set Money Aside

Savings

When you start living together, you probably start thinking about budget together. That means you need to think about having some savings.

Why?

Because you never know when something can happen. Some problems with the house, car or your own health.

And what if you don’t have spare money to spend if that problem is serious? You would not have to worry about that if you would have some savings.

Deep Clean

I know, maybe you moved into a good neighborhood, and everything seems fine and clean. But… That can be just the good looks.

There can always be some bacteria that you should not have at your house. So when moving into a new place, deep clean it. You never know what happened before in that house or if it was even deep cleaned.

Maybe just vacuumed, and some dust cleared off.

So make sure you do that, especially when you have a baby in your family.

Buy New Locks

This is a very important thing if you don’t want someone to rob your house.

And it doesn’t even have to be a robber that can do it.

It can even be the previous owners that will think – “Oh that family is rich, I have some old key let’s go at night and see what they are up to and what stuff they have.”

You don’t want to have any surprises. So get new locks and change them.

If you don’t know how to do it, then you can always call a professional.

Meet Your Neighbors

If you want to be friendly around your community, then one of the first things you should do is introduce yourself.

Don’t be afraid and go knock on your neighbor’s doors.

Create a grill party at your house. Grill some burgers or steaks with beer and things like that.

Have A New Registration For Your Car

If you decide to move away pretty far from your old place and if it’s even outside your old state, that means you need to change your car registration.

When you move to a new home in a new state, you will need to register your vehicle and transfer your driver’s license.

You should check how many days you have to do it. Visit your local DMV office to do it. Some states give only ten days to do that. Some give even 30 days.

Congratulations on your move. I hope these tips have been helpful when moving in a new place.
